Aeolian blade only good for stun?

I have aeolian blade lvl 10, and i find it only useful for stalling until roar of pride or drake bash is ready.
whenever i read aeolian blade,i thought it took my damage from auto atk, multi it by 2 and added 1396. But when i used it i found out the "base damage" it just your damage "unarmed" and weapon damage is just damage from your weapon, not your stats.

Say i do 2000 damage every auto atk. and when i use aeolian, on average i only hit 3300.

Since aeolian blade takes a little more than 2 secs to channel/cast, that means i could have made two hits with auto atk(if you hit about one atk each sec),which would mean about 4000 damage, way stronger than aeolian blade.

SO MY QUESTION IS...

--Isn't aeolian blade pretty useless without stun,
or does it get stronger as you level?(like past 80+)

I mean yea, 3 sec stun is great, but it only has 50% chance. Plus, it doesn't work on bosses or players who use anti-stun.

Close but not quite, ''Base Damage'' is the damage you see on your character menu.

The skill will take a random value of that damage range, along with a random value from your weapon's damage range, add 1396.6 to that and then it goes through a multiplier based on your enemy's defense. Then there's still some mathematical wizardry involved with attack and defense levels, but I'mma just skip that for now b:chuckle

To answer your question; yes, it's mainly for the stun (to keep your opponent locked in a stun).

I found Aeolian Blade to be pointless at endgame. If you're 5.0 and desperate for a single mob stun, then chances are it won't even proc the ****ing stun.

Mine is level 10, and I get it to proc maybe 40% of the time. For something with a 90% success rate, it seems to fail an awful lot.

I just wait for Roar, and spam it.
When the 11 and 12 star orbs were removed due to
    "Client Instability"...
Was PWE referring to the Game Client?
    Or the players?

Maybe that's because it actually has a 50% chance of stunning.

It's rather useless in PvE, but in PvP it's quite valuable (if it activates).

    lol, trust me on this:

Unless you are fighting a sin, you can use aeolian blade and have a damn good chance of hitting the stun. I've had it stun a person 7 times in a row and finally missed on the 8th time, but they died to the damage from it anyhow.

It's basically an extra stun skill to use, so that you can possible prevent skills of the other player.
Nothing worthwhile to mention here, enjoy the animated signature~

It's only a 50% chance of stun, but unlike roar and drake bash it doesn't require chi. Damage is fairly respectable too, especially for sage version.

In pve it really loses its uses endgame.

In PvP its used more for its damage or if a previous stun misses. Since demon Roar never misses, that means the person has antistun on so Aeolian still isn't much use as a stun, but if you are trying to save chi, missed a stun, or just don't feel like switching weapons to axe then Aeolian is a good option. Its got pretty decent dph, though.

Demon roar is a 6 second stun with a 14 second cooldown and demon Drake Bash is a 7.5 second stun. 6+7.5= 13.5 seconds and your Roar is cooled down again at the perfect timing so there isn't much use in a 3rd stun unless you choose to use it between 20-21 seconds. Most BMs opt for just chaining with a seal for that 1 second with Smack or Occult Ice and starting their stunlock over again.
