    Guilds is spelled G U I L D S with 6 letters

    Factions is spelled F A C T I O N S with 8 letters

    other than that pretty sure they are the same for this game, though in some other games they might not be.

    When used in context of social relations:

    A guild is a formal association or club of individuals that share a particular trade or pursuit, and form with the purpose of protecting their mutual interests by controlling/setting practice standards for its individual members.

    A faction is a collective that may or may not be formal in nature but can be identified as forming a distinctive group within a larger body which it is, generally speaking, at odds with.

    At least that is the gist of it from my own perspective. Apparently, these constructs have enough similarities that the gaming community uses them as interchangeable terms; however, they do differ in their implications when applied correctly.

    it all just depends on what you want to call it they are the same...the first mmorph (Ragnarok and Secret Of The Solstice...might get in trouble for saying those but they are dead and buried now anyway :p) i ever played called them guilds so i'm kinda stuck with it in my mind :p

    Open up the Factions dialogue (G) and use the Desert button in the lower right corner.
