-channeling or attack level?
I always played cleric and recently in a discussion with friends we couldn't decide whether it should be Stone of the Savant built in the weapon which gives -3 channelling, or Diamond of Tiger, which gives Attack level +1.
Thank you for your answers!!!! b:thanksb:thanks

Both of those are terrible choices to put in a psy wep. -chan does virtually nothing, a sapphire gem will give far more attack damage increase than a DoT and a +ccit shard is just slightly better than a dot, go for a sapphire shard. If it were any other magic class other than psy, -chan shard would be an option
full 3r9 +11/12 (still using immac shards though) w/o CSing, leveled to 105 spaming pv, yes i have no life =D

Adding to what has been already been said, DoT are only good in armors to go full damage route, in weapon you pretty much nerf the base damage on which everything multiply on.

Primeval, while I did read someone thinking on them doing good in weapon, I still think that with enough crit gears, the difference is too little to matter to an arcane compared to the lowered base damage.

Savant... for psychic? I have a tendancy to start ranting loudly whever someone bring -channel gear on psy. Not the kind that come on endgame as bonus, the kind that are mdef neck/belt with only -chan on them. Yes, there is a few spells which could use the -chan, but these are the less used and all the more commonly used one got next to nothing channel time and huge casting time(this one cannot be reduced). Psy were made for fastest spell speed, at the cost of barely being able to improve it.

    Longknife be nice xD
i also was like b:shocked when i read this
but just gotta help them out.

Something to add that i didnt see,
    dont need DoT on wep
cuz we already have so many atk lvls compared to other classes
with BV+gear so wasting a DoT on wep is kinda crazy
when sapphire shards would give you better dmg.
So atk lvls we got down ;)

Also agree on psy not needing -chan much,
ive seen a psy with like -36 chan and could barely even notice the difference
when i have like -16 chan i think
just thought id show you an example of - chan on psys.
    - chan would better suit a wizzy for example having one of the slowest chan out there.

    Lol'd.

It's astounding how many people put DoT's/savants in their weapon on private servers (a lot on pwi too, but not everyone can afford it here). Always nice seeing those blue sparkles on a weapon screaming ''Hey guys, I'm new here!''.

if you can afford a flawless sapphire use that instead of DoT

Which stones you place in your weapon depends first and foremost, on your playstyle... Second on your overall gear and what you are looking to have as a target for your gear set...

I myself have 1 Savant Stone in my own weapon... It is the Sage / R6 Weapon you can get through the Messenger of Sages at L.90... Underworld Sovereign... The weapon itself already has it's own -10% channeling and 18-19 magic (mine has 18 qq), and for that reason I placed 1 G12 Sapphire (+100 mgc atk) and 1 Savant Stone (-3% channeling). I feel these two stones compliment this particular weapon quite nicely, and I have had no regrets in having set this weapon up in this manner. I have of course had plenty of, *cough* "compliments".

If I had the Psychic Soul Drill for instance, I would likely place again 1 G12 Sapphire (+100 mgc atk) but would place 1 Primeval Stone (+1% crit rate) in order to keep to what would compliment that particular weapon. I might even be inclined to shard this one with 2 Primeval Stones.

The Attack Level stones might be good if you have an overall "theme" of attack levels throughout your gear, where as added attack levels even in small contribution would compliment your character and playstyle. If you do not at least have r8+, nirvy second cast, or r9 sets with their attack level bonuses and about half if not more attack level stones in your gears, I would not suggest attack levels in your weapon then.

Defense level stones I see the same way as attack level stones in your weapon.

It is most common that sapphire shards are used in a psy's weapon.

No. Flawless sapphire shards are barely worse than DoT's if you rate DoT's as adding 1% damage each (which they don't, particularly after fb blessing, voodoos, r9 bonuses, etc). Higher than flawless, DoT's don't stand a chance. There is no reason to ever put DoT's in your weapon.

    Now, apply them!

Attack levels provide diminishing returns, but the appropriate shard will add directly to damage dealt for a constant return.

based on that graph, still looks like +atk levels adds up nicely... is the reason r9 is qq'd about so much by the non-r9's...

Guys guys, it's really not much of a contest between sapphire or tigers. Attack lvls are nice and all, but they're incredibly inferior once you consider that they don't affect one vital spell for pissing off your opponents. That skill is bubble of life. b:victory

But seriously Apostasy, people qq about r9, but not because of 2 attack lvls. Do they even multiply like sapphs do?

In reply to this, seriously. My initial post basicly said it all my intial reply to this thread. Everyone taking my statement of considering +1 Atk Lvl Stones out of context, it becomes trolled into a conversation of merely 2 such stones in one's weapon versus 2 sapphires. Which is not at all what I stated.

It is a matter of the combat equations being based on 4 things... If you are attacking, your magic damage and attack levels (which includes your character level) versus your opponent's resist and defense levels... where atk lvls vs def lvls becomes a major factor... This is the reason why R9 gears are as powerful as they are, compared against all other sets still to this day. And what is the major difference between the full R9 set and all other sets that have bonuses? Atk and Def lvls. You can literally create a non-R9 set combination that has better outright stats, and why will you still have to work harder against an R9 than they will against you? Atk and Def lvls. Again it is as I stated in my initial post linked above.
