Well, when a barb is doing a bh around his level or etc, sometimes barbs are not greatly geared enough to tank in human. It's possible, if thy are knowledgable, but you may hit less, but u have DDs in a squad to back you up. in Huamn Form, unless u have Str build or a nice weapon, around the level 90s and under, u wont be hitting hard ennough to steal aggro from Sins and Archers and etc. Fleshream is a skill only in tigerform, used to get aggro, and works very well until the 90s when classes can begin to hit much harder due to interval, spark and ETC. Barbs are meant to tank, so why not use tiger, to reduce damage, and have more life.
A great example of why you need tiger form. In bh (i believe) 69, pyro has a nasty debuff that reduces your defences and allows him to hit much harder. in human form, u lack invoke, and extra defence, along with hp. Unless u have solid shield in human pyro will murder u. If your in tiger, u have more defence, HP, and u can quickly use invoke vs. having to switch with possibility of death.
Also on the note of barb build, just follow the chart on what your stats should look like (without extra adds from gear). Thats what i did. Worked well for me until interval took over. Now i'm farming to get 4 aps..0 -
I agree with YachBarb and theres also Devour which increases aggro and decreases the enemies phy def. And for build... I did 6 Str, 3 Vit, and 1 Dex every 2 levels.Mains:
Doom_Panda- 102/101/102 R9 3rd cast Demon Barb 40k HP.
Dawnx - 100/85 Demon Cleric.
PsychicTuna- 101/100 Sage Psychic.
DawnMyst- 96 Demon Mystic.
PANDAS FTW. AND I b:heart ARMA! b:avoid0 -

Id just like to point out that pyro is the easy boss in 69. Nob is the one that increases damage you take by 100% or so (similar to BM heaven's flame skill) and Pole reduces your pdef and mdef to 0, which is usually a much bigger increase in damage (assuming you have anywhere near decent defense). The only thing that can save you on Pole when he debuffed you is high HP (tiger form increases HP) and invoke (tiger skill), weaken (tiger skill) will also be useful and perhaps some genie skills :P
Also, when you reach lvl 89, if you choose to go demon path, you can get Demon tiger form, which no longer decreases your damage. Another thing to keep in mind is that while tiger form will decrease your damage by about 50%, your buffs like Strength of the Titans (+30%) and Poison Fang (+30%) will easily nullify this decrease in damage, and if you add you strength modifiers to it (+200% at lvl 100 usually) you'll see that the damage decrease is not so bad, you'll only lose around 14% actual damage at most by going tiger form once you get to the higher levels.
When killing regular mobs you can still opt to go humanoid form, but even then alacrity will help reduce the damage you take on magic mobs by a lot and bestial rage will help gain chi a lot. Also the faster movement of tigers will increase the speed at which you can kill regular mobs if you kill them in a reasonable amount of time (i.e. that's why you want to get a decent weapon on a barb )0 -
thank you guys every 1for all your tips for builds and stuff. i understand that its best to be in tiger form in bh's but 1 last question is that is it okay if at lower lvls i use human form to kill mobs or im at a disadvantage there as well? ( and I will do 6str 3 vit 1dex like doom said Thank You.)0

It's not a disadvantage, simply a difference of skill sets. Honestly, if you're low level grinding/ doing BH's you'll have an easier time tanking in tiger form; however, for AoE grinding/ Frost, you have more high damage AoE skills in standing. The decrease in damage is to your base attack only, if you're sage since there is none if you're demon, so your skills do almost equivalent damage to your standing skills. That remains true unless you have a high refine weapon, since you'll lose more damage to the ratio.
Simply put: What form you should be in depends on what you're doing. A good barb learns how to use both effectively.0 -
Does the +6str, +3vit, +1 dex / 2 lvls get you enough of str/dex for endgame dual hammers, etc...?0

Axe/hammer level req is 3str/.5 dex per level. So yes, 6 str/1dex every two levels will allow you to use endgame dual hammers.Seven 100+ characters leveled the hard way. Free to play. Mystic, Psychic, and Wizard left to level. b:victory0
