This has been bothering me for a long time now

This happens from time to time, but is getting much, much worse lately.
If I'm out of range for a skill, and press the button, or click it, my character will run to range, then do absolutely ****ign nothing. It happens with Auto Attack too, double clicking a mob, or clicking the attack button. On my Sin, sometimes I have to press a button over and over to get the skill to even start.
This is quite frustrating when I'm on my Barb, especially.
And quite often, auto attack doesn't even work on my Sin if I'm standing right at Melee range. I have to spam press the button for attack to start. Sometimes, I will attack once then auto attack cancels all on it's own.
Anyone know why this happens? How to fix this? I'm obviously not expecting a GM, since they blatantly ignore these forums unless something they CAN'T ignore comes up, then they'll ignore it for as long as they can.

I think it does it when the game thinks the target is out of range again. That's why i am always spamming my auto attack on bosses and mobs. After a few times of sparking and hitting a boss and sin just stops and stands there it gets silly. So now i just press 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 the whole time lol0

Odd, I don't think I've ever had that problem. O.o And I've been known to grind on mobs for hours straight like that. It sounds like a bit of a lag problem, honestly. Running into range doesn't stop my skill from firing off, or maybe I've just never noticed it because my cleric only uses macros when grinding.
I asked my partner and he's never had problems with the double clicking to start auto attack either. Then again he's an archer, so he hardly has to run into range for it anyway. <_< Lazy muffin.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

More annoying is when Ironheart goes through the entire channel bar and then fails at the cast portion..... That's real fun.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

I've noticed this early on on my sin via knife throw at max range, and the best thing to do to counter it is as soon as your char enters the range (stops running towards target) hit the skill again. As you may notice when you first press the skill and your char starts running towards the target, the skill is darkened in on your hotkey bar. As soon as your char enters the range and stops, the skill lights back up. As soon as it lights back up, press it again, and the skill should cast.
That's what I been doing since I started, and I haven't had a problem since.[SIGPIC]Octavia is best pony[/SIGPIC]

You think pve is bad, imagine that happening in TW, i run in, stun, stun does not proc, hmmm, let's use hf, sparks go away but no hf on screen, hmmm, lots of wasted chi, let's do fissure, nopes pwi shows no love, let's go with cleave, doesn't work. Oh looky, archer waving to me, i raise hand to wave, but somehow facing the ground.
I know for certain that if you use roar of pride on the bq sandedge crystal mobs, the stun will not happen on the mobs unless you take a few more steps, but if you do that, they have already dealt magic attack and negates the use of the stun.
Very annoying problem.0 -
I've noticed this too.
Happens more in dungeons (my sin in HH-some kind of lag thing I think).0 -

now that i think about it, i have had this happen to me once or twice, usually when i am lagging badly. it doesn't happen if i use the f keys though, only when clicking.

The reason it stops is because the target moves out of range. The way I get around this is, I run up, then when I am about to start firing the skill off, I press 'w' key and move a step or 2 closer to the target, then fire the skill.
Think about it, if a wizard casts a skill with a 3 second channel, and I holy path 100meters away from the wizard, obviously the skill will get cancelled. In a similar though less manner, same thing is happening here. So just take a step or 2 closer before actually using skill.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

This. The auto-closing a skill does is to the furthest pixel possible. The mob only has to move a pixel (Which might not even show on your client) to cancel the skill.I've quit excluding TW for my faction. But I still hang around to help out those who still enjoy the game under PWEs horrific handling and to have fun in the forums. b:cute

Aha, this may be why I don't seem to have problems with this. I got so used to moving closer than max range while leveling my plume and cyclone because one would always have a shorter range than the other until I maxed them both and the running between skills was eating precious time. Simple solution.

not sure I understand the 'game thinks you're out of range' bit. Shouldn't your character automatically move forward until you are in range?
Also doesn't make sense because it happens on stationary targets, and it happens in TW to telestunned players.
I've encountered this before where it would attack once, then stop, I poke the ****ing button and I attack once, then stop, I have to spam the damn button to get it to work. Believe me, I can 5.0 my 'auto attack button' if I have to, but I'd rather not. Indeed, I'm almost to the point of making a macro that spams auto attack. I can make it spam it at 5.0 if needed be.101 Sage Sin*/Archer

Stunned targets have usually moved a little by the time you attack (During the stun) and the latency of both clients ****s with this. And spamming attack will often make you fail all the more to actually do so. Games old, give it a break it's never been one for precision.I've quit excluding TW for my faction. I've had some lag that end in something similar to this for a couple days now... otherwise, I don't recall having that problem. It's pretty much how I can dualclient in FC (use a skill on char 1, tab to char 2, use a skill on char 2, tab back to char 1, use a skill...). It worked on long distances but with the weird lag I'm getting these days, I'm not risking FCs.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

What I think happens is that:
Mob is standing and you want to attack it (lets say it's one of those runner archer mobs), you click the skill you want to use (lets say its 15 m distance skill) and start moving toward the mob. Then it starts running because your in aggro range, but your still running into range based on where the mob was before it moved. Then you stand there, get hit, and click the skill again and it works since your in range.
That's my take on it. Annoying, yea, but I spam click any skill I use to counter this. b:surrender0 -

Let's make this a little more... Simple.
I run up to a Stationary mob.
I press, click, or yell at my attack button, most likely in that order.
I run up to the mob, or drop stealth, and either 1) I do absolutely ****ing nothing, or 2) I attack once, and then it stops on it's own.
This is a 100% non mobile mob, it cannot move. There should be NO range issues at all, in any way, shape, or form.
This happens more frequently on runner mobs, or ranged only mobs, but it happens on EVERYTHING, even immobile mobs.101 Sage Sin*/Archer

I've noticed this also before when fighting running mobs. I've noticed it a LOT more in the new morai area than the rest of the maps or dungeons. But my barb would run up to the mob, the mob would then run back for some distance and my barb would follow, but when the mob would stop, my barb would be standing nose to nose with the mob, but not attacking. But now that I sit here and think about it, there has been and instance or two where the mob would be on something like an incline, or hillside, or even a small dip in the road, and the game would have problems seeing my barb as "next to" the mob. So my barb would not attack. But I found that if I moved just the slightest bit, my barb would start auto attacking again. I know this may not answer your question, but hope it helps some. b:byeIf we always do what we've always done,
