For $250 you may not be able to get a really good GC and PS. Exactly what are you looking to use this new PC for? Casual gaming, hardcore FPS gaming etc.0

I don't know how tight your PSU is, but this is pretty close in dimensions so maybe it'll work. It should give you enough headroom to upgrade a bit too.
The 6870 should let you play most games on medium settings very well.
I'm not very experienced though, but something similar to these products should be fine without going over budget.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Just the Northeast, in dreary boring Connecticut. :P I recently got a Mac, so I can't play games anymore. Also don't want to run bootcamp because my Macbook Air probably can't handle all that.... But when I get back home to my PC I'll try to log on and say hi! Glad to see you're still around.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Not sure if you are aware but prices of computer hardware rose up the past 9 months or so because of that thing in Japan. I don't know what computer stores you have in your country so it's hard to help, unless you can tell me. Generally though if you are going for semi serious gaming try to stick with an AMD Radeon or GeForce card that is within your budget. I forget how much mine cost so I don't know what is worth it. b:surrender0

First off, why the hell would you buy a pre-built tower if you are planning to replace parts?
You should just buy each component separately or buy a bare bones kit.
Replacing the power supply and the video card will just add about 200-300 dollars to your total.
Also, you are probably gonna get substandard parts as part of the package. Your motherboard probably won't support cross fire or sli and will have less slots for upgrades.
The ram you get will probably have higher timings than standard ram. (lower = better) While most users probably won't notice a difference, it's still you could have better ram for approximately the same price.
The new generation video cards with kepler and GCN architecture are significantly better than older models. So you are better off buying a low-mid end model from the current generation than a top of the line from the previous generation.
And a good video card needs a decent power supply. But a decent power supply should also have 80+ certification otherwise it will rack up electricity costs.
And if you aren't hell bent on a i7, you are probably better off with a third generation i5 with the ivy bridge architecture and using the savings to buy a ssd, which will make your computer feel faster than just a processor alone.0 -
ati 7770's

pretty much the same card. Some might opt to go with xfx because they are a bigger company.
The next step up would be the ati 7850 which offers a substantial upgrade from the 7770s
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150609
Just from browsing I would recommend that card. It comes with double lifetime warranty and about 50 dollars less than any comparable card with weaker warranties. (Double lifetime warranty means you can sell your card to someone else and they would qualify for the warranty too)
Someone referenced this chart earlier which you can use for a guideline:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html
You can see that the 7850 is third tier at 270ish and 7770 is seventh tier at 130ish. So pretty much double the price. But I wouldn't consider the 7850 extravagant because it does offer a substantial performance upgrade.0
