Interesting Problem

I've come across an interesting problem. It seems that I'm able to get the client up and running with game version 624 flashing in all its pixelized glory. I push start and the notice box comes up, the book unfolds, and it asks me for my username and password. I type it in, and an error displays telling me to exit and update the client. So like the loyal blood hound I am, I go and load up the client again, fiddled with the update settings (I indeed pushed all the square buttons) and gave it another shot. Same problem. So, as I was gathering my extremely confused brain, a thought had occurred to me! I havn't played in about a month (even though the patch happened about a month ago) why don't I try to manual patch it!

Patch 623-624 (12MB)
Error-Version and client are the same.

Well thats odd. The client says everything is clear. The game says otherwise. Have the creators of Perfect World created a sentient life-form? Could a bug-ridden game such as this be the perfect guise for a secret Chinese military apocalypse program? Is the world going to end up like The Matrix? Am I Neo? No! None of this could be true! So I decided to try the other most recent update with a manual patcher.

Patch 612-624 (14.4MB)
Error-Version and client are the same.

Well now that is a curious phenomenon. After tinkering with my firewall and anti-virus, I tried once more to see if the patcher would auto-update, to no avail. Judging by my lack of abilities to move like Neo, I would say that I am not in the Matrix, and this is a problem I can not figure out on my own. If the Agent Smith's of the Technical Support Zone have an any idea as to what the problem may be, I would be grateful. If this is a problem that can be fixed without re-downloading as well, then I'll even promise not to turn off the Matrix on you all. Thank you advance! I will check back in the morning.

When you were tinkering around with your antivirus, did you add the clients directory to the exception lists?
If so, did you then disable active scan and run a verify a couple of times?

Also, if you're on Vista or newer, set the patcher.exe to run as administrator.

Thanks for the reply Sylen. I added the clients directory to the exception list and disabled active virus scan while this verifies (Takes about 20 hours on this computer b:sleep). I ran the patcher as an admin prior to the verification but to no avail. If I still have the same problem, I'll get back to you and see if the problem persists.

Whatever the verification did it seemed to work. Much love Sylen.
