Garnet Gems

Hey guys,
I'm trying to figure out what I want to be my endgame sharding, and I'm considering garnet gems (josd's are out of the question...).
My question is: I've heard that pdef has diminishing returns, but I checked Asterelle's socket calc, and garnet gems still give the most physical protection even at 10k pdef (3500 base + 240% pdef modifier). However, pwcalc shows that at 10k pdef, the phys reduction is 71%. With garnet gems added, it goes to 82% - would this added pdef really be better than josd against phys dmg? (hypothetical question).
I'm a TW wiz, so I'm really trying just to figure out whether to go dot or garnet gems. I currently have about the same pdef as I would if I sharded dot, but r9 archers still hit harder than I would like (they are hitting 3-4k+ noncrit, which is pretty bad). The only difference would be an increase in 3k+ hp with refines.

Simply go DoT since they are the best shards for TW0

There's no reason that you couldn't do both. Shard 2 or 3 pieces of armor with garnetts and the rest with DoT. That way you could lower the archer's damage a little more and still have some extra stopping power.
Btw I'd also check Asterelle's socket calc to see how Citrines would stack up.0 -

playing on vendetta, with full recast r9 +12. i sharded 50/50 garnet/cit and was nearly unkillable. since i sharded mostly JoSD i actually die a lot easier.
relating that to pwi, i'd shard garnet til i had 12k pdef self buffed and then go with cit's. With having a Jones blessing i wouldnt shard DoT at all. They just dont increase yoru damage enough at that point.
Also, the only real reason to shard JoSD on a mage is to stop psys/other mages from one hitting you for 15k+. You can actually shard your build well enough so that you lose the same %hp/atk to phys atks as you would if you were full JoSD.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
