So I was reading about PW's "products"...

"So it was with apprehension I downloaded (a very hefty client plus patches) Blacklight: Retribution, a new property from Perfect World Entertainment, one of the largest publishers of F2P games. PWE is also known for re-monetising failed titles, such as Star Trek Online and Champions Online, and while they also have Rusty Hearts on their books, I won
That is one hell of a business strategy. I'd just like to ask Frankie to clarify what he means by re-monetising? Is that like re-investing? Cutting up small developers? What you buy up, what doesn't sell? You don't fund these developers, do you?

Time won't wake/make you wiser, but it will definitely wound you.

Are you kind of seeing what I'm saying. b:bye

I assume they're using that word in the context that PWE has taken subscription gaming and converted it to cash shop gaming.
Either way, I don't see how anyone who knows how PWE works would play more than one of their games....I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -

That statement can only hold true for cryptic's games... That is if you want to believe their games were failing before they went to f2p.
The games that pwe hosts from wanmei are not really failing if you consider how big of a hit they are in China. As for here, not so much. It's hardly re-monetising for those games though, they were never p2p (except for pw, but that is a different story) and only came to us because of their success... in China.
You guys don't believe on that last bit, I'll tell ya: pwcn has like 72 servers. I could post the serverlist.txt from them if you want proof. b:shutup[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
monetize
1. To liquidate.
2. To print money in order to cover a debt. A government may monetize its deficit in order to finance its operations. Monetizing in this sense causes inflation.
3. To convert into cash. One may monetize an asset by selling it or monetize a venture by producing revenue.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
