Im having some trouble deciding on what to chose, im stuck between Venomancer and Barbarian.

I like the fact that the Venmancer can have a pet AND go into a beast form, but ive always been one to just jump into a fight and kind of tank whilst still dealing dps. So i dont know what to choose :/

Does any one have any suggestions?

so from my experience i really enjoy tanking. i looked at psy's, BM's, almost all the classes realy but i really enjoy the barb. they usually have a good amount of life even at the start and depending what kind of build you get you usually end up killing stuff before you even hit the 50% mark on the health bar. i have never actually tried a veno yet so my opinon is pretty bias but still if you life just getting right into a fight go for the barbb:victory

Ive played both classes and I must say Veno gets really boring really fast. Also I found PvP much more fun on my barb compared to my Veno.

Barbs have high repair fees and dont deal as much damage as venos do, until endgame or lvl89+ if you go for aps.

    that all depends on builds.

a STR barb that doesnt put anything into VIT will do lots of damage compared to lets say an LA veno.

veno is a good noob class if youve never played an MMO before. It does a pretty good job of teaching people how aggro works in this game - as its very similar in execution to a cleric/barb combination.

89 IMO is still to early to think about aps build on a barb. you still don't have access to the tt99 set bonuses or stage 2 legs, and I'm pretty sure that if you dumped all that dex into str youd be dealing a lot more damage than with non-perma sparked fists, and youd have access to your skills and true form - thus making you a much more effective barb than someone that just auto whacks a boss.

Did you consider a Mystic. They have pets and debatably are a lot more complex and diverse than a veno. Also why stick with just one. I think a barb/mystic would be a great combo. You are allowed to multi-client.

(I play my 101 veno every day - ijs mystics are cool too)

I agree that playing a veno might get boring if one was to play a "safe" style of game play and cash-shopped a herc for "easy mode" but I love playing with my veno which can get quite exciting when, for example, tanking 7+ mobs (of the same level, no herc) while controling 2 characters (veno + pet). Of course, it all just comes down to personal preference and playing style whether a class is boring or not.

This is one of the reasons why venos make an excellent class for new players. They can be very cheap to play and are great for making money early on in the game to help support their other characters.

    .

I think what you mean to say is that a "veno is a good new player class." I agree that it is a great class for learning the game but it takes just as much skill to play as any other class, even more so nowadays with all the game changes. Veno is not a "noob" class at all. Veno players have to have a lot of skill in order to compete against all the high aps, heavy hitting casters, and scary archers......and deciding on a AA/LA/HA path takes a lot of thought and assessment about one's playing style, unlike most other classes.

dont take offense to the term in its usage here - for we were all noobs at one point.

Except for the fact that you seem to be missing a key point; a noob is a player that acts blatantly ignorant, purely to spite others. A newb, on the other hand, is a player that is new to the game, but is open to being taught to play correctly.

So to fix your statement, we were all newbs at one point.

I have heard that playing a Venomancer is low-cost [you rely entirely on your pet, if done correctly; you don't have to truly shell money on gear(, beyond a certain pet?)], but very micro-intensive. However, I was told that new players should consider taking up Venomancer to learn the game's aggro mechanics and stockpile gold for subsequent characters.
