I'm wondering how well thought out screenshot contests are..

I'm really not complaining. I think they're a very good idea, a creative outlet for those of us into that thing and a great way to keep memories saved since snapping a screenshot will be in our minds. However, I'm not sure the process is very well thought out.

A few days ago, I submitted my first entry. Got the little pop-up saying it may take up to 24 hours for the entry to be processed. Which is totally fine with me, I figure someone has to look through them so some troll doesn't upload 900 screenshots of a butt or something stupid. The next day I checked, just to see if any other entries had been put up. And there had been, mine wasn't one of them but that's what I expected. Now we're up to today, just a couple of days before the contest is over, and my entries still aren't up. And there aren't any new shots up since they were updated the day after I submitted mine.

So, to me, it seems like rather than putting up entries as they come in, they're gone through in bulk and thrown up every couple of days. That does not seem like the best idea.. I mean, if someone sends in an entry and it never goes up, how will they really know? It gives them no time if they submit it within the last couple of days to resubmit just in case. And I myself have had issues with the fancontent area of the site. When there was the comic contest after Genesis, my submission was shrunk down(For reasons I do not understand, considering the constraints only included file size and not image size.) no the font was unintelligible. I'm pretty worried that something like that will happen with the entries I submitted for this contest as well.

I suppose that's about all I wanted to bring up. I'm truly not complaining, I just thought those were a couple of valid concerns to state(Especially considering that it's been somewhat implied that contests will be more common. What with the prize thread Frankie posted and all.) and hopefully Frankie, or someone, can consider a change to make the process more efficient and user friendly.

24 hours? It told me 48 hours and only 3 pics of the 4 i sended in were added! I even had to mention that they were not added yet after that 48 hour period! only then they were posted! (mention it on this link )

it's not complaining indeed, but it's kinda odd that they dont do a daily add of pictures that passed. But then again, I do not espect to see the contest happening in a few hours from now. They likely wait incase they find another screenshot they like. So many people sending screenies in, if they had all of those in paper instead, they would be swimming in them by now b:chuckle But we'll see what happens I guess, could be that they did see yours but declined them for some reason.
