I'm planning to buy a new desktop computer and I would love some recommendations or even advice. Links/pictures/reviews would be great! b:pleased I was looking at This here and wondered what do you guys think.

EDIT: Here's the entire package.

    EDIT: Here's the entire package.

i would change 2 things on that pc
get a HD of 7200 rpm or 1 HD SSD for system and another HD for files

and the video card, i would sugest you using a video card with all memmory dedicated, since the its faster.

i have an older pc, Intel core 2 quad 2,66 GHz, 4 GB ram DDR2 and radeom HD 7970. so far only game i couldnt play with over 30 fps was crysys 2 with the ultra resolution

    Hmmmm...

The cpu and ram are pretty decent for the price but that graphics card is garbage (like in 90%
    of other OEM builds...)

If you're gonna use your pc for gaming (other than pwi) you should just build your own or at least look for a pc with better gpu

    edit: check newegg.com

Alright I was just advised to avoid purchasing a computer from Best Buy since their prices are ridiculous for **** quality so I was recommended to look at newegg and thought this looked pretty sweet.

b:sweat An HP... From Best Buy, even. b:sweat

I know there are better alternatives out for a little more money. But you also get what you pay for. I'm not gonna be all snobby and say 'get an alienware' (for one, because they're way overpriced, and two, I actually hate them quite a bit), but there are other premade systems that are priced similar that would just be way better than that.

Or you could build your own and put better components into your system, and pay a similar price.

If I was to get a pre-made system, though, I'd probably get a Dell. Had them before, used them at school, other than a few quirks, they always worked well. H{'s tend to just... Fall apart more. Right now, they've also been having some issues where the company has said they wanted to completely get out of consumer computer electronics.

Only downside to building your own system is that you don't have a manufacturer picking up the cost of Windows for you, and you gotta pick up that little bundle of joy yourself, to a tune of $400 or $500. >_> Microsoft's little way of saying "**** you, buy a pre-built'. I mean, you can actually buy pre-made computers for less than that that come with Windows pre-installed... wtf.

For the price you are paying for that you could of gotten a M14x alienware with a good amount of parts maxed....
Nothing worthwhile to mention here, enjoy the animated signature~

    I had the 2011 version of m14x...

It was decent specwise but couldn't handle even 2 hours of continuous gaming without overheating. After a few months in the cpu got fried and I had to wait weeks to get a new one thru alienware customer support.

I've left PWI, WoW, Guildwars, hundreds of tabs, hundreds of documents, 10 vents, and multiple other applications running on my M14x for over 12 hrs. Never had any issue :>

Maybe you didn't allow for good air flow under the laptop...or maybe the area you were playing in just didn't have a cool enough air flow to keep the laptop from overheating.

I'm glad you did it and not me, lol. Hell it didn't even cost $400 - $500 when it first came out b:chuckle

I would like to note to the OP, that if you do take the route of building your own (which isn't hard btw), make sure you get the full install of the OS and not the upgrade package. I can't count how many people have made this mistake when building their own PC.
