Sys Reg - Running a Cat Shop

Hey Everybody
I searched through the forums, but never found a thread about this, so here goes:
How low can you go on system requirements if I want to run my cat shop at night, without using my main pc?
I know what the minimum sys req is for the game, but have anyone tried with less than that?
Hope somebody have tried it out - if not, I might be the first to test it

I have tried using a laptop with 256k memory...game crashed before catshop was set up. Cant remember the processor speed.0

I was thinking of one of the older desktop pc's I have "saved" from the trash bin.
My main concern is CPU as I got an older pc with 1 gb ram and a gfx there match the min sys reqMiss my Avatar b:sad

The game works even on my 5 year old eee pc with windows xp. I could even play on this little netbook when control would be better. The requirements for this game r rly low, 1 GHz processor and 1 GB RAM r already enough. Thats a 10 year old desktop pc...0

that's right - if it runs on a netbook, then my idea seems possibleMiss my Avatar b:sad

I used to run PWI on an old Sony VAIO laptop, with a 1.7Ghz Centrino core and an amazing 512mb of RAM. I couldn't run more than PWI and music on it, but it was for enough to run a catshop most of the time. I used to crash every now and then, and it would take forever to load... But it ran the catshop XD.
Honestly, if the thing hadn't completely stopped working, I'd still be running the catshop from it...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

You cant run windows 3.1 with 256k[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
well at least it runs more than it crashes it greatMiss my Avatar b:sad

The problem with most PCs isn't the actual CPU, but yet the amount of RAM. PWI is a RAM hog. After a few hours of being in game, my catshop takes about 3 gigs of RAM. I do, however, suggest you set all FX to lowest possible. Doing so will take a lot less RAM usage, though it's still a good idea to relog it every so often.lvl101 Legit archer...not 1 hyper used or multi-FC0

well I planed to run everything on low, it don't need to be pretty, but to work yeah relog to clear RAM etc. or better reboot the pc to clear all the processes on the pcMiss my Avatar b:sad

as someone else said, PWI is a memory hog (soooo not the word I want to use <.< ) so you need an OK amount of ram.
That said, before this last release, I was not only running, but PLAYING PWI on a system with an Intel Pentium II, 1.something GHZ, and about 1.5-2GB RAM. I couldn't run the graphics far above min, and w arch was HELL to walk through, but it worked. I got my sin to 100 that way <.<
I even managed to dual client some with my cat set to min graphics/no names/hide players/etc., only ever DCed due to crappy net, no client issues.
Interestingly, the reason I had to go to a newer system was that my *cough* 10+ year old GeForce2Ti *cough* couldn't handle the new graphics. xD Crash on login screen. b:surrender
TL:DR---works on a P2 single core with a good enough graphics board and 1+ GB of ram for sure. It sucks, but it works. Catshop should be fine.
ETA: that computer had a lot of the OS features disabled, to improve overall performance. YMMVThings said during a Twizted faction PK session:
Slayer_of_Souls: you guys are such suck ups. none of you have attacked twid.
Twiddzly(fac leader): no, sere killed me already.
Slayer_of_Souls: he's out there waiting for us, isn't he. i'm gonna die.
Sereneai: b:sin why don't you come find out.

Mine's been to since 7 this morning, it's 3pm right now, and takes less than 1gb of RAM. Lowest settings applied.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

yea...the 3 gigs taken on mine weren't at the lowest settings. b:laugh
Hence the reason I suggested that.lvl101 Legit archer...not 1 hyper used or multi-FC0 -
yeah relog or reboot the pc, to clear it totallyMiss my Avatar b:sad

My pc 10 years old and has something like 1Gb RAM, if not less, I'll check when im home later. Catshop runs all night no problem.
Gotta restart every 2-3 hours of play time though, glitchy sluggish meltdown doom otherwise.

on a cell o.O - I think it sounds interesting, but a wise thing maybe to stay close to a wifi connection - Could be very Expensive in traffic on cell net i think
and btw, what kind/model cell phone ?Miss my Avatar b:sad

On the opposite side. My 3.5 year old HP laptop crashed while on my way to Seat lastnight
I am currently stuck in MS Repair mode black/ blue screen.
I feel this time may be indefinite.
Current build is 2.2 ghz
4 MB RAM
INTERGRATED GRAPHICS
17" display
Screaming loud fan cleaned every couple months. ( it sucks up dust better than a shop vac).
Two HDD 1 320 GB 1 250 GB hard drive
MS WINDOWS VISTA
This laptop is why i wont buy a HP anything the rest of my life.
HP recalled this model but failed to notify me even when they were in the process of replacing first defective Hard drive.
It overheats during game play
The fan gets louder and louder even with a dual fan pad under it.
It dc's 2 to 3 times a night while in catshop. Even twice while ethernet hard wired.
Wifi says excellent 5 bars connection at motels nationwide and it still dc's too much.
I have all in game settings minimized to the max. No trees or grass. Distance is 10 m and i slow mo through Archasaur.
I am about 2 hits behind my sqaud on boss kills in Fcc and thats not good for a 99 Barb.
I am buying a new laptop at a store i can walk in and throw it back in their face and raise hell if it dont perform.
And not wallmart. Thinking about Bestbuy. Cant afford alienware top of the line. But i do want the 17" screen.
So what is a good build the geek sqaud can throw together for less than $2k. I plan on some TW and maybe Dd Sin as my next toon.
Iwant dependability. Performance. And medium qaulity graphics card or better. Maybe would consider dual video cards
Min 6 GB ram
7200 rpm MIN 750 GB or raid 0 x2 500 GB
Suggestions welcomed.
Btw is it possible to get a fan thats sucks the heat out instead of sucking the dust in?
And what else can i do to get better wifi signals when in a motel wifi zone. Sometimes i am next to router. And other times i am 5 to 10 doors from router. Just enough to run a catshop.
Please help payday is coming. My credit score is low 600'sso i probably have to pay cash.
Thank you!0 -

It's not so unrealistic. Maybe some emulator could handle it.
And I have no more info about it. It was looong time ago and probably is not true.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Maybe a tablet, but I highly doubt any phone has the processing capabilities.0 -
well would be a bummer to use my main cell all day to run a cat shop :P
got a Samsung Galaxy Note - but that processor won't cut it I think :P
so totally seriuos about a cell - naah just curiuosMiss my Avatar b:sad

Today phones are more powerfull, than 5 years comps. I think good phone could handle it on lowest settings without problem. Especially old pwi, which was not so high hardware requirement.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
