Directx error after Descent update

Hello all. After updating my Windows 7 laptop to the Descent patch, I noticed that it keeps asking me to update to DirectX 9.0c and that it's missing a DLL file. Problem is my laptop has DirectX 11 and I've been able to run PWI on it well before they released the Descent patch. Anyone else have this issue? I appreciate any input on the matter. Thanks!

    Yea I'v been having the same problem. I have DirectX 11.0 and PWI won't run on my computer. I keeps saying I have to manually update to DirectX 9.0c Help please.

    Just download the 9.0c dx from Windows, that solved the directX popup for me. Running Windows 7 here, too.

    Direct link for direct X 9.0c for your convenience. Mostly because everyone just googles Direct X 9, not 9.0c. Direct X 11 Does not have the package for 9.0c. :D

    Same here... I've bin trying to install the game also with the same errors... And the version I have is DirectX 9.0c... I did to a full search through my computer though after trying to re-install DirectX and the game a few times for the file it says is missing... The .dll indeed isn't there... But I can't just go mess around with .dll files and the windows settings either... I care a bit more for my windows then I do for the game... But hopefully the admins will acknowledge the issue and make a manual patch for us which will extract the most common missing files the where they should be without breaking our systems...

    If anyone else feels like searching if the file is also indeed missing... It's name is "d3dx9_42.dll"... You can try both the search funtion (let it search through hidden folders as well) or check in the file list in your DxDiag... Note: Looking for the file will not take any action... Just look for it and do nothing else...

    Just download DirectX 9.0 Runtime Enviroment plug-in from Microsoft Website.
    It will install the files in the correct directory element.exe looks in.
