What pets benefit most from legendary skills

A while back I saw a thread saying a Glacial Walker with a herc's skills would actually out tank a herc. The issue was the price tag of legendary skills and the fact that some squads still look for only veno's with hercs.
Well, as venos tank less and less and fall more into the roll of amp/debuff with many squads even asking veno's to stow their pets on bosses with random seals and aggros (boss seals a herc, herc runs and boss chases, aps dd's lose their sparks and die when aggro returns) a herc is becoming less and less important. Meanwhile, with faction bases, there is more access to the legendary skills for about 30 mil.
So I was curious about a few things:
With a herc's skills (Strong, Protect, possibly Reflect) what would be the best tank pet for instances? And I assume Blessing of the Pack would make a better 3rd skill for defense instead of Reflect? Was thinking Armored Bear with those skills would be pretty ridiculous.
With a Nix's skill's (Claw) what would make the best DD pet? Thinking a Dark Wanderer with Claw, Bash, Reflect, Blessing of the pack would be pretty amazing.
And I know the pack from the Base is non tradable, but the pet would be so I could have an alt with 43k contribution learn it or a friend with too much contribution. Anyone know if once the pack is opened if the skill is tradable?

Ehh, a Herc with no skills still has better stats in just about every regard than a walker of the same level (pulling these values from ecatomb's pet simulator, all skills off and compared at both level19 and 100). Also it should be noted that Reflect is what allows Hercs to tank large groups of mobs, since reflect creates it's own aggro. Obviously if you don't intend to use your pet to take on a dozen mobs at a time then sure, replace it with blessing.
I think Claw on a starter scorpion would be absolutely deadly. It's already has the strongest attack of any land pet. It's just...kinda squishy. So if you're really set on having a DD pet with nix skills, Dark Wanderer's would be pretty good.
<_< I use the pet sim for tons of testing when time/money doesn't permit =P

About the faction base skills:
Once you buy the pet scroll/pack it's not trade-able nor can it be put into an account stash. Check out this thread.
If you want to play around with pets and the bonuses they get from various buff skills you can use the pet simulator. It may take a moment to figure out how it works (if you've never used it before) but it's really useful. There you can compare the pets, how much % they gain from buffs and such. I think that will answer your questions the best.
With the buffs the Glacial Walker comes close to the defences of the Hercules but the Hercules still surpasses it (by 1% physical defence 2% magical defence). I guess it's not much of a difference. With Blessing of the Pack a Glacial Walker will have, more or less, 100 more HP (at lvl100) than a non-hp-buffed Hercules. (the info is from the link I posted)
As far as Claw is concerned, certainly the Scorpion or the Wanderer is your choice but I'll have to say the latter since it also has very good defence. Your idea is pretty nice considering that faction pet scrolls are potential better than the current ones and you could build a very nice DD or tank pet or both.
I'm skeptical on whether you should choose Blessing of the Pack or Strong. The Dark Wanderer has little HP but the buff gives him roughly 900 more HP (well not the base one) whereas Strong increases its defence and matches that of a Hercules (again about 1-2% less). Also, Reflect is pretty useless unless you plan to AOE grind or tank things with your Wanderer (which then would require a different skill set up). So it comes down to what kind of pet you want to build and for what uses.

Like Desdi said , it depends on the pets.
Blessing of the pack is good on high HP pets like Walkers.
Also Armored bears have a nice balance of good phys/magic defences so more HP gives more protection to both types of dmg.
Claw is a good skill on a scorpion along with 3 other elemental bashes which lets it dish out some serious dmg especially in Caster Nirvana. Wanderer it the next obvious choice , he has the biggest DPS (without skills) and Strong is the best alternate leg skill which let him survive many AoEs. Protect isn't not a valid choice , Wanderer's has abysmally low magic defence and the extra 30% def wont do much (tested)
Reflect is another nice skill on a bear , to increase its aggro potential , and on a Walker. Pretty much wasted on a DD pet.
Faction pet skill books have higher bonuses than Dragon Temple ones , though they still cost like 30m.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

If it comes to claw i would say it fits the Dark Wanderer, the scorpion and the Bone dragon best.
I did choose the Dark Wanderer with claw and blessing of the pack as my dps-pet before i got my Bone Dragon.
The Armored bear would make a good tank def-wise too, but its dps sucks and it would take ages to kill something that needs that high ammount of def (mainly dungeon and tt-bosses) and with its low Patk Claw is nearly useless too, cause +30% of nearly nothing is still hardly noticable.
My Tankpet is a Glacial Walker with Strong Protect and Reflect. Its quite close to the abillities of the ugly yellow Buddah and more than enough to handle 99.9% of PvE-Situations and i can easily use it for AoE-Grinding. I had Blessing of the pack before i got it reflect and came to the conclsion that the more on HP is not neccesary most of the time. Therefore i got it reflect now to easily control groups of mobs and be able to AoE-Grind.
Now that i have the Bone Dragon he will be my main "utility" Pet with high dps and high defs. I will get it a Strong-Protect-Claw-Skillset which will make it 20k+ each def and 5k+ Patk at 1APS it speeds up runs against ?-Mobs a lot due to the huge amount of damage it deals and will be able to tank quite well.0 -
Range tank (Eldergoth Marksman/Sharpshooter): Claw, Protect, Blessing, maybe Strong
DD pet (scorpion/wanderer/seamonster): Claw
Tank pet (walker/magmite): Strong, Protect, Reflect/Blessing
Of course, phoenix and herc will benefit from the base versions of their skills.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Thanks for reminding me about the pet simulator. Used it before but not crazy about it and forgot it existed.
Question, though: When applying the legendary skills on the pet simulator is it the drop version, the base version, or the original version because they are different buff amounts, right?Seven 100+ characters leveled the hard way. I can't really see much rational reasons to put all tanky-buffs (hp, phys and mag def from base or dragon temple) on a non-herc pet. It's more expensive then herc, and herc is only outdone in speed by some pets. I don't see much reason for "speedy-tank", but I guess someone can find a reason to prefer a bless+protect+strong kowlin over a herc. The only other pet I could see it for is a ranged pet like marksman. Ofcourse, there is a very important non-rational factor : herc is freaking ugly (at least I think so), while an armored bear with tanky-buffs would look awesome and be almost as good as a herc. I'll probably end up giving my favorite pet (in looks) def buffs and maybe even hp buff, just so it becomes usefull enough to be used more then herc.
I think attack buff (base one or dragontemple one) is a great skill on any pet you like to use. Scorpio is probably the "best", but I could see it on any pet actually. Personally, I thought my herc claw (replaced pounce) as I didn't like the idea of getting bothered with resetting the auto-cast each summon (I know, just a luxury problem). If someone likes his/her kowlin/tabby/bear, why not teach it attack buff if you have the chance ? I think the same can be said about the phys def buff. Teaching just that one to a normal pet would greatly increase it's usefullness.
As for reflect, I consider it only usefull on a pet that already has physical def buff and decent hp. The skill is pretty much useless 90% of the time, but during those other 10% it's epic (I'd prefer an attack option that would make the pet cycle it's attacks through all aggro'ed mobs). Idk, I like it on herc in instances, but would never buy it for 20~35mil to teach it to a pet.0 -

getting the buffs for other pets seems to come down to personal choice. Most People are like "hey its way more expensive than getting a herc".
All i can say is "maybe on ur server" petskills on Momaganon are around 10-15 mil each and hercs still cost around 90 mil so why not stick with the stylish-pet with higher dps and same defs that costs a third?
And did you ever considered joining event to farm ur skills... u get them for nothing...
I know: "better sell them... bla bla".
But i personally never even considered getting that IMBA-LEGENDARY-UGLYNESS. Why? Cause its the easy way... I really had a fun time getting the skills for all my pets in Dragon-Temple and I have a full Formation of Pets for every purpose.
I have DDs that outdamage the Herc by far and still have decent survivability.
I have Tanks that tank as well as a herc in nearly every situation...
and i can choose the optimal Pet for every purpose.
And what is most important for me: i have the knowlege that i did achieve it by myself and didnt take the easy way like most others would.
I'm really fed up with that "you don't have a herc... you are a noob"-habbit of ppl that buy their way through the game and dont even consider thinking about other possibilities than the easy way.0 -

This.
Also, indeed it's true that different servers have different prices on the skills. At the time I bought my Hercules I just compared the prices and figured out Hercules was the better choice otherwise I wouldn't mind customizing my own pets. I already have Claw on one of my pets. I'd have gone further with customizing my pets if I didn't have an alt to take care of at the moment b:chuckle[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]
