What plants do you use?

Let's say this is regarding a big pull in FCC. What plant do you use, if at all once the mobs are gathered? Do you use a debuff type, lysing it for damage, or just one of the healing plants?

Sometimes I find the mobs dieing too fast in FCC (especially high lvl squads) so I have no time to take out plants. But I feel that I could definitely have some more use with them.

For bosses, which plant do you use as well? Besides healing herbs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I notice little effect from all the plants I use. That's why the plants aren't my main focus. Maybe because I don't lysing enough?

And energy leech, how often do you use it? I hardly ever do since it costs so much mana to resummon a pet.

All mystics I've noticed tend to play differently. More than any other class, I'd say. So I'm interested in seeing what you guys do with plants since I'm still trying to master that area.

Hmm plants depend on my squad. I either throw creeper out and/or lyse him. But if we got a veno or a barb who's actually using his debuff, I just plant some healing herbs at bosses.
If a group of mobs dies fast anway, you can skip the plant and just DD. Or just drop a healing/vital herb.

Besides that, I found lysing sting quite nice damage in RB. Normally I open with creeper, lyse him, throw a thicket into the HF that should be up by now, then drop a heal plant if someones in need of some extra healing, if not just lyse sting from time to time between aoes.

Spidervine... It's nice if stuff goes wrong. Like in a bh someone somehow lured all mobs and boss. BM was a slowpoke, so I just lysed my plant and mobs ended up slept long enough to prevent chaos and until the BM reacted. It's also epic in pk :p

Energy leech... Hm.. I admit I don't use it too much. lol I found it pretty useful if you need that bit of extra stat though. Like If I get cube 100 sec stand rooms, I always leech chiyu to have that little bit of extra defense going to a safe spot.

Yay, wall of text. xD I guess in the end it comes down a lot to being smart :p

Yea, it really depends on the situation and how strong/the composition of your squad

For FC bigroom, if it looked like the mobs were gonna die fast I wouldn't bother with anything other than a healing plant. Would just take cragg out for the extra DD. If the pull promised to be "interesting" then would drop both healing plants. For FC heads however, i always took out punishing sting.. its an extra DD to help max heads :). Everytime i saw a mystic at heads with chiyhu out and no punishing sting I would just facepalm b:beatup

For bosses, i almost always use creeper and mebbe a vital. Just habit now really, lol. I dont even know which buffs overwrite which from other classes tbh, so i still just throw creeper down :)

The effects from the plants are there, and you can tell when doing bosses with major HP. Lysing them helps even more if you want to cycle through different debuffs, though admittedly i've gotten lazy about that too

LEECH. Is awesome. Sage gives you that extra 3 secs of anti-stun, so i leech before going into rms 14 and 34 or other situations where a sin might be lurking, or in duels/pvp. Now that pets come half-filled with mana upon summoning, i tend to leech chiyhu a fair bit for that extra crit % and just summon a new chiyhu. Its actually easier and about the same on MP when given the choice of transfering more mana to a pet that has run out of mp :). Leeching mistress doesnt seem to give much of a bump to mag damage (to me at least) even though i use mistress the most. I used to leech sally a fair bit (ie before going into the 100-sec stand type rooms) but dont even bother anymore

yay another wall of text :)

Chiyu? o_o I always used mistress on auto attack with her aoe. A good deal of times she killed more heads :o

exactly, the fact that they had *both* chiyhu out and no punishing sting showed that they had no clue what they were doing. Chiyhu serves no purpose in FC (anywhere), so to me they were just lazy mystics who didnt want to spend the mana to keep mistress full (before now when they didnt spawn with mp)

Tbh tho i dont even think mistress helped with heads. Too slow to acquire target and trigger the aoe. But a chiyhu at heads was a sign of just pure fail, let a lone a chihyu anywhere in fc imo

Nah, I always put storm on agressive mode with her aoe set to auto as well and it will trigger fast enough... It doesn't really take any longer to cast than NV, it's just sometimes she has to run to the target. It works nicely to cover the cooldown of gale force when killing heads.

That reminds me, a few days ago me and another mystic were the sole healers of FCC. The other mystic had chiyu out the entire time, even in FCC xp room. I kept telling him to at least take out salvation, but he said it was squishie and couldn't tank. I thought that was even more pointless since we already had a barb in the squad. It turned out that I ended up healing the most while he continued to hit single targets only.

I still use my devil a lot. A hell of a lot more than mistress, especially now that he comes with half mp. I just have him stun as I do absorb soul. But I agree, in fc and other instance where you have to kill multiple mobs I have storm out and gale force as much as I can.

For plants, I use my creeper mostly for bosses & Sting for extra damage, I had some mystics tell me it doesn't do whack and to instead put out the listless blossom which I don't understand, I thought the LB put enemies to sleep and if anyone attacks them the effect is broken. Even so, most bosses would be immune to it.

While I am here, could someone tell me how to use spidervine. I never see it out much and it just looks like a debuffer.

I never use healing herb or sting (useless skills tbh). For the rest it depends on squad/situation. My mystic one shots the mobs in FC, so it would be pointless to use a plant, but even if i couldn't i wouldnt waste my time throwing out a plant when i can aoe to kill mobs faster.

As for the bosses, it depends on the other debuffs.

On a boss, I run right up with the tank or just behind him and place both Vital and Healing Herbs down.

If everyone seems stable, I will cast Befuddling Creeper, Swirling Mist, Nature's Vengeance, Lysing Creeper, cast Punishing Sting, Swirling Mist, Nature's Vengeance, Lysing Punishing Sting, while replacing Vital Herb as needed. Rinse and repeat till boss is down.

Having sparks ready for Craggy gets a little tricky, but if things seem slow still, and the Sparks are there, and Vital Herb doesnt need replacing, I will summon him to take big chunks out of the target.

The alternating of Befuddling Creeper & Punishing Sting Lysings I read about here on the forums. I'd give credit but I forget who exactly posted it, sorry.

Its a technique that Ive played with, and I like it a great deal. b:victory

I dont use plants on mobs, although I have seen Lysing Creeper suggested. Ill just cast Thicket followed by Gale Force, and Craggy when the Sparks allow.

EDIT: I just remembered, Lysing Creeper before casting Thicket & Gale Force should help prevent some seals. >.<

Thicket is also good on bosses. Its an AoE but it has a very short range. Due to a small hit box you cant use it on large bosses like Ethereal Abomination, but its something that will help slowly burn a boss down. I learned that from Marista. b:thanks

I rarely use heal herbs, they always get 1 shot by aoes so i prefer comforting mist and spam break in the clouds.
About the other herbs sometimes i use creeper to slow aps on bosses when there is no sin on the squad, and i always une lysing before boss aoes so i dont have to summon the plant again . >__>
When there is a huge pull like the one in big room i use vital and thicket, any other herb will be useless unless u make lysing but that takes some precious seconds that could be used to save a partner's life, so thicket's seal is really cool for that.

And yea, devil is useless @ heads, mistress is way better
But idk everyone has a different way to play this class, thats why i love it

well,if FCC i tended to use thicket along with both healing plants. but since thicket sometimes silences they run away and just makes the fight longer overall. now i use both vital and healing herb (which at lvl 10 heal near over 1200 every second or two when both are out.) then i use cragglord to finish the bunch off as he does the most damage, especially amped.

I use pretty much all of them except for Listless Blossom. It usually depends on how many/what type of mob i'm fighting. Usually my mystic plays a backup offensive role so i use Creeper or Spidervine, and bring out healing herb if the battle is going to be drawn out.

Solo, I used Creeper+SV, but I don't go reaching for them anymore. The time spent pulling mobs to plants seems like a waste when I drop them quickly enough with DD. I put out Sting if I feel like it.

In squads, I admit I haven't been using debuffs for a long time (commence shunning). The thing is that squads/friends have always asked for and praised my healing herbs, so that is what I stick to using. The second thing is that I constantly see the Pdef debuff, so I gave up on Creeper when I have other things demanding my attention.

SV is useful, but I favor Rapid Growth, so it would drain chi more (even then a good squad won't need it).

Listless has just been one of those skills I haven't taken the time/coin to level so I'm missing that tool.

To further note, Mystic is one of those classes in a game that I feel there's really no "wrong" way to play. As long as you make use of what you have, it's a matter of choosing a tool for a job. Sure, taking a Devil in FC might not be the best option, but it's not your call to make for someone else. Being a jack-of-all-trades, it's entirely personal choice what tools a Mystic chooses.

As examples, Thicket and GF are expensive, need experience and a stun (from what I understand). Healing herbs are simple and effective over time, especially when a boss shuts your Comforting Mist down. Storm Mistress is equally as slow on the take as Devil, is higher maintenance and dies quicker (to say nothing of gear being a factor). Knocking someone for being "lazy" on the MP draw is just wrong, there's a lot to manage on a Mystic using a lot of tools and sometimes it's just more efficient to a player to send in the battering ram and let him do his thing.

Yay my own wall of text. b:chuckle

i didnt know you could put both out

Sure, get a couple sparks up and go try right now. Both healing herbs go down real nice together. Kinda like they were born that way. b:chuckle

If another plant is cast you will be left with only Vital Herb.

Some say they dont use healing herb, and sometimes I dont either. But more often than not I use it if I feel I could die, and dont wanna waste tons of mana. Even in a squad, if the Vital Herb gets bounced out before the timer says time is up, I use the Healing herb as well.

Its easy. Lay them both down then go about your little Mystic business. b:cute
