Veno's and the FC Big Room Boss

Last night I realized why so many forming FC squads want nothing to do with Venos.

My Veno accidentally threw an AOE at the big room boss and that killed the mini-boss, which in turn killed half the team including the cleric. This left the barb and one other player to use of crabmeat while staying alive until people could return.

I usually avoid this mistake, but now I wish there was I convenient way I could lock out my two AOE skills when needed.

Make a macro that doesn't include them? Drag them off the quick slot bars?

And I don't think that's the reason FC squads don't want venos.

I have no problem getting in fc on my veno. I did the same as you once, then I dropped 50k for each squad member as a way of an apology.

If you got all the way to the xp room, they can't have been too unhappy with you.

You're being too hard on yourself. Mistakes happen.. Just apologize and move on. If they keep harping at you, just keep quiet and after that either don't party with them anymore, or simply be more careful.

Everyone makes mistakes. On my first FF, I remember forgetting the guide, that said not to use AotB (spell cancelling on my barb) on Asoteric Runewolf. I thought it would stop the AOE, but it just made it immediate. I apologized non-stop and the squad helped by giving me more pointers for the subsequent bosses.

I think that's how you learn? From making mistakes and learning from them.

Venos have amazing DD and farming value. With Amplify Damage, pets that can tank if things go wrong with Barb/Seeker, purge, etc... It makes you an ASSET. Just keep at it and don't give up.

Whilst something of a troll he does have a point here.

I mean, we've got noxious gas, parasitic nova,
Befuddling Mist (the usual cause of "Oh ****, that was an AOE!" moments, because its aoe is so small, and so rarely useful, that you can forget it's there) Malefic Crush (which, uh... I don't think I've ever actually used. It's certainly not on my skillbar) and, of course, fox-form myriad.

So yeah - that's what, five AOEs, not two. And not knowing that you've got them is pretty poor.

So yeah, use human-myriad at that boss, and avoid your other AOEs or it's everything fall down go boom times. But that's not why veno's are unwanted; the classes that are wanted are stinkfish, or clases with more and bigger AOEs than venomancers. They just know not to use them on that boss.

Anyone could do that. It has nothing to do with venos as a class.

I only farm TTs on my veno, so I don't use malefic crush very much too. And befuddling mist as well.

But I think that we need to give new and rising venos more encouragement. I rarely see them anymore. Then again, this goes for mystics, psychics, wizards.....

This is a common mistake which happens on everyone.

Venos like all casters are in a difficult position , though compared to wiz/psys/mystics , they are more accepted into squads , just like clerics.

Well, much like the OP themselves, many players don't know much about venomancers either so they don't know the class's value. Now, when a venomancer is unaware of their own potential it only enhances the unawareness of the other players. I hope it makes sense XD

I actually use Befuddling Mist a lot, in delta and warsong mostly, and Malefic Crush whenever I have spare sparks and I've already casted demon Nova. I keep switching among the forms to use all the AOE available.
