Am i doing it right? Treasure quest

Soo. I am not quite sure if Im doing this correctly.

I did this on 6 toons over level 100.

I picked up the quest, headed to the X.
Dug the chest, and killed the boss.
everything just ended it right there.
Am i doing it right?
is this normal? Because I hear people farmed a lot of chrono pages :c

    It's all a matter of luck what the chest bosses drop (you need the map 1-4 bosses to drop maps for you to proceed), and you don't get the good drops unless you get to map 5.
