Client Freeze on Log-in Book

So my client freezes and sometimes crashes after i click 'confirm' on the update review thing when you first open your client , then it freezes (sometimes crashes) on the desert background and the book stays closed and doesn't do anything , anyone else have the issue and know a quick fix?

Same problem, only it locks up my entire computer. Would like some sort of official response to this problem.
