are you using the range atack or eldergoth?
if you are, just dont do itb:laugh the range atack of wurlord is just INSANE!!

-TT is where bosses tend to hit harder at range.

Of course I'm using the range attack of the eldergoth. You think I'd use it in melee range, with just the base Protect buff? The melee attack of Wurlord is also insane!
If you're not testing with Herc faction buffs on the Walker, I don't see the relevance to this topic, sry.

Care to reread the original post in this thread (noting the poster), and retract?

Walker at same level has somewhat higher HP, somewhat lower MDEF, and would be getting hit with the melee as well as the magic attack.

Reading your TT post, it seems like your Walker does not have the buff. In thread topic, you only showed us putting faction buff on Eldergoth. If this is not the case then I am truly sry. b:sad

If your Walker don't have fac buffs my post is still valid.

I no longer have a walker on that character, having replaced it with a herc, and don't have enough faction contribution yet for another scroll, let alone access to any other scroll save the super-Protect.

The topic of this thread is base buffs, not buffed walkers in particular.

Bringing some math to a pet fight (using level 97 pets, since that's what my veno with the buffed goth currently is) (Figures from Ecatomb, since I'm not on that char at the moment, and don't have a walker on her regardless):

Eldergoth Marksman: HP 3084 (4163 with pet vitality scroll buff), mag defense 7402 (20725 with pet protection scroll buff), not considering physical defense here as it's a range tank, and Wurlord's ranged attack is magic.

Glacial Walker: HP 3447 (4653 with base buff), phys def 9472 (26521 base buffed), mag def 6946 (19448 based buff)

Baby Hercules: HP 4450 (6007 with base buff), phys def 9652 (24130 with stock buffs, 27025 base buffed), mag def 7721 (19302 with stock buffs, 21618 with base buffs)

    Damage reduction again ? opponent (defense/((attacker level*40) + defense - 25) per the wiki)

    Eldergoth: 77% vs. magic attacks
Walker: 81% vs. physical attacks, 76% vs. magic attacks
Herc: 80% vs. physical attacks stock, 81% base buffed; 76% vs. magic attacks stock, 78% base buffed

Wurlord Substancia: physical attack 3098-9293, magic attack 4646-13939
    Damage received:
    Eldergoth: 1068-3205
    Walker: (phys) 588-1765, (mag) 1115-3345
Herc: (phys) 619-1858 (stock), 588-1765 (base buffed); (mag) 1115-3345 (stock), 1022-3066 (base buffed)

Conclusion: Base buffed walker (with HP, MDef and PDef buffs) is slightly superior to a stock herc at 97 (someone else can do the math for other levels) but DPS will suffer vs. herc due to either giving up icicle/bash or not getting reflect. Eldergoth with just HP and MDef buffs is safer (but slower) than either, as there is no possibility of a 2-shot from magic+melee consecutive hits, and the magic attacks are spaced out further than the melee attacks.
