How do you stay motivated to play this game?

I think it's safe to assume everyone has a 'goal' for when they play this game, even if it is to just waste time. Maybe it was to Merch X amount of coins, or PK some particular jerkbag until it gets boring...

For me it was always about gear. I always was making the next bit of gear, refining it (which, btw, I ****ING HATE), and working towards leveling to get to it.

My other motivation was TW. something fun to do with the faction (or at least a squad).

But now... I'm getting to 100 on most of the characters I enjoyed the most, and... TW is so laggy, it's not fun at all. =\

What's left to do? I find events to be boring as ****. There isn't an easy, simple way to glitch to 105 on Sin anymore, so TW's pretty much a ****-fest of ganking by cheaters anyway, effectively making that useless.

When I get home, I have to choose between playing Minecraft and PWI. I'm choosing... Minecraft for the time being.

    Gamma, friends, playing for pure enjoyment rather than much else. My current goal is Jace to 100 and her gear. Past that? Dicking around with friends and teaching.

    The only thing that really keeps me motivated is getting another piece of gear...sure, I could charge and easily get what I want, but its feels so much more rewarding to get things through my own efforts in-game. Another thing that keeps me here is to help a few others reach their goals too...

    Aside from that, the only other thing I'd want to do otherwise is to get better at 1v1/group PvP, but with the level of gear that others carry lately and the ridiculous class "balance" we've got here, I think thats the last thing I'll do here.

    I know what you mean. I guess for me, my goal now is to get full rank 8, all sage skills, and my level 100 skills. That said, the game is gettiing very repetitive. One of the reasons that quests are so dead is because its kill x of this, fly all around the map to x location, gather x of this, and for a crappy reward normally. (More true at higher levels as you already know.)

    I guess for me, I try to help some of my friends with demon/sage cult, other cults, etc...or try to help other players in the game out. I'm often in the starting village, or in areas close to it to give advise to others. Aside from that, and my wanting to complete my character, there really much incentive for me to really play this game. Even leveling my alts is tedious, because doing that never ending stupid cult chain is something that they're all faced with. Honestly, I level them through alt fc, because I'm not going through all of those quests that I did with Serenity all over again...especially not the stupid rare drop ones that took me 2 days to get 6 drops.

    I can't run nirvy because most squads don't see the need for a cleric, so that's one endgame instance that I'm not usually in...and go figure, its the one that nets the materials for one option of endgame gear too.

    Caster's nirvy is harder for me than regular nirvy. Mobs approaching doing massive physical damage to casters, plus bosses that interrupt BB when BB is needed on that boss. It has good rewards, but its just not worth it...not to mention the massive charm ticks as well. That's the second engame instance, and not to mention the other one that gives the option for endgame gear. Some people even ask for the weapon to be linked...which takes me out of the equation even more. Lol.

    You have good gear, as has been stated in your posts. For me, what's been keeping me motivated is trying to get good gear, the rest of my sage skills, my level 100 skills, my new skills from the expansion when they come out, helping my friends in game, and helping others in the game. Aside from that, there is not much reason for me to play anymore. That's what keeps me pushing on. (That, and getting my revenge on a few bosses that killed me in the past.)

    ...and I do find the game still enjoyable, and admittingly somewhat addictive as well.

    No...idea...at all...
    Only reason i'm still kind of playing is because of my mystic, grinding through low lvl quest, doing 20x3 in wraithgate, occasional bh (with heads and all it's not too easy).
    All that kinda reminds me of how things used to be...then i look at wc and see somebody selling heads. b:surrender

    Making alts keeps me motivated i guess b:surrender but I do tend to get bored of this game >:[ (thank god for X360)

    Hope that it'll all work out again.

    When I get to the point of half quitting again something tends to happen, whether its a mass PK fight outside the hotspots with a lot of non10x or even just running a proper FC without having a nub in squad **** it up, or helping out a lowbie who is genuinely new to the game and seeing them learn and progress.

    These things happen, I have an amazing amount of fun for an hour or two and then I work and work and work to get another fix of awesome b:dirty

    Also want to experience TW as a Wizard on a real server. But cos no buy FC thats a looong term goal :P
    I've quit excluding TW for my faction. But I still hang around to help out those who still enjoy the game under PWEs horrific handling and to have fun in the forums. b:cute
    #Shame about PWEs absolutely craptastic handling of the goons glitching. Remember kids, there's no punishment for breaking the rules here!#
    If you make a valid complaint, your thread will disapear. Don't post it here, post it on other sites where PW can't hide it.

    Alts, I guess. And the fact that I want to reach 100 on one character, atleast. It's so sad that even with fc's, I still am so lazy to level.

    Not to mention, I'm stuck in a house all day, everyday, aside from the weekends. Staring at four walls with only your pets to keep you company is pretty damn lonely and this game atleast has a social aspect to it, for when my friends are in school/working.

    What keeps me motivated is to eventually become a r9 +12 sage sin just so I can say I did it. b:chuckle (It'll probably never happen, but it's what keeps me focused)

    I don't really have any motivation to play the game anymore... kinda sad the only goals I work towards are my husbands b:surrender

    Just going to lvl my barb to 100. I have a bunch of alts but pretty much lost interest in them, it's all the same regardless of what you play, same grinding, same farming, same bosses, etc. etc. With all the power leveling going on, no one actually PLAYS the game anymore. I did a BH59 run awhile back and we had a lvl 100 cleric, i should have been pretty much invincible but still died twice because the cleric plvl'd and didn't know how to play it. I started playing when the game launched and had a great deal of potential, now it's just a site people log onto to talk smack to each other. After my barb, i'm done.

    I've finished all my goals long ago. A few of the more memorable ones have been removed from the game. Already covered the map in some ugly bodily fluid color. The only goal I have left is to paint our map completely red...

    My Sin, BM, Barb, and Archer are there already... It's not all THAT impressive. QQ

    On sin it can surprise other sins a little if you have lots of HP though.

    No but really... I wouldn't say I'm motivated, when I farm it feels like I'm just aimlessly going through the motions to earn money to buy gear just to do it all over again when I need to refine and shard it. *sigh*

    Upgrading gear and guild/events/occasional pk (Which as of late is either against stealthed fail sins...or arrogant trash talking r9 +12 people...)


    Beyond that, I really can't think of many reasons to log in :|

    The moment someone loses goals, they have no longer a reason to play. Hence, I set small goals for myself and once I achieve those I go onto the next ones. Current goals would be to +10 my Venomancer's rank8 and then farm 200k rep for my psychic. Followed by improving my gears...little by little.

    This i me all over Desdi. Everyone also talks about friends, which is a problem for us rare Australians playing. Ya'll in bed when I log on....

    I've given up levelling this cleric, which I may change soon considering the continual request for clerics going around. But I hit 99 on my veno yesterday so one more level to get into Nirvana and those legendary BH's.

    After that I'll need to update all the veno's gear - its all only tt90 and a requiem blade, and at the same time use my veno or its money get gear for this cleric and all my alts.

    At the same time Im hoarding mats to get my clerics crafts up to 7.

    Soon I'll have 7 bh 69's to do on my alts, which includes the dam 202020 so that will take a few days.

    Plus I'll have to re-learn about genies and get a decent one for the veno.

    Plus Ill need to start merchanting properly - may never happen, but I would really like to.

    Thats the basics for now, but those little goals, and the upcoming expansion are what keep me logging in atm.

    Maybe in another month or two I'll get to 100.

    Anyways, I still play because my friends still play. Yup pretty much it. Been in the same guild for over two years lol.

    I've been playing this game over two and a half years now, what keeps me playing?

    1.)I make little goals that are achievable within a short amount of time so I don't get frustrated.

    2.) Despite most of my friends quitting, and new ones coming and going, I still have friends on this game.

    Apart from this, oh I get frustrated with this game a lot, bored to tears and my motivation dwindles everyday. TW has become boring, everything I'd need to improve my gear requires so much money it demotivates me and its gotten to the point where I have multiple alts of every class just in the search of something novel to do. x.x All the instances are boring, the events have all lost their magic, and I'll be honest, most days I stay in catshop or afk and play on my minecraft server... xD
