Woot?I've quit excluding TW for my faction. But I still hang around to help out those who still enjoy the game under PWEs horrific handling and to have fun in the forums. b:cute
#Shame about PWEs absolutely craptastic handling of the goons glitching. Remember kids, there's no punishment for breaking the rules here!#
If you make a valid complaint, your thread will disapear. Don't post it here, post it on other sites where PW can't hide it.0 -

Packs only work if you buy the 100 set. Also you need to be aware of the past few sales to guess whether some packs will sell or not. And you ought to be familiar with which packs do sell or not. It's very possible to be looking at making tens of millions per week.
DOrbs, do you mean Oceans? Or 1* orbs? Oceans are rather risky due to them being a low volume, high cost item and the sales being rather frequent. 1* Orbs work pretty well.
I have personal experience with Packs and Dragon's Fire Packs and making literally tens of millions from either.
You can't really "merchant" herbs. Well, you can buy and sell the low ones, but that's never a good thing to do. Buying and selling things is a stable, but low margin way of making profit. Well, unless you happen to have some strange luck, such as all of the token merchants right now, with the prices having gone up from 10.5k to 14k+ each.I am Olba. Not Ol, not Baze nor Blaze. mind you, you have to be lucky because nobody can perfectly predict sales, anybody who bought +10 orbs last sale and kept them till now (on sanc anyway) is now rich. Because I can keep my catshop on literally 24/7 I tend to just do stuff in the game keeping an eye on wc for cheap things, and stick them in my shop, in the mean time, I have my items I'm flipping.0

I did merchanting with 1* orbs when they went on sale, then I took a loss of 9m from 10 after I mis-priced my items, so I ended up with 1, Next I tried packs, but then I was just being stupid and bought a ton of gold right after a sale, while it was still high, then I had to sell them at a ridiculous price, they never sold, so I opened them after about a week. So that's another loss.
I sorta gave up farming when they took fairy boxes from 1-1 solo mode, plus 2.0 r8+5 isn't good enough for nirvana.
I'm left with CSing.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Things like that happen. In my career as a merchant, I've made some really bad mistakes. Worst of them would probably be accidentally dropping all of my merchanting funds, at the time 25.1m in total, at West Arch AH when I was in a hurry getting more Gold to restock my shop. I've also made massive losses due to buying Gold at a bad time, amounting to 10-15m coins lost. Similarly, having put in a large bid of Gold at a time has also cost me several millions in AH fees.
And yet here I am, having gone from literally 0 coins to well over 500m. Most of that has gone towards gear and skills on my Assassin, but I do have about 130m in merchandise right now. Which isn't bad at all considering that I recently bought my G13 Nirvana dagger for about 140m and gave about 25m worth of stuff in Christmas presents to someone I know.
On the other hand, I've also had massive successes, such as making 40m profit in a single day due to having turned my funds into Gold before maintenance only for there to be a sale that bumped Gold up 150k in my favor, plus adding items that sold like cold soda on a summer day.I sorta gave up farming when they took fairy boxes from 1-1 solo mode, plus 2.0 r8+5 isn't good enough for nirvana.
That's kinda wrong. I haven't farmed much: during the 2x drops, I did maybe 15 Nirvana, out of which 2 were my own 99 Keys runs and I ended up totaling ... maybe 20m or so from the Nirvanas.
What I would suggest for you is to do BH100 as often as possible. It has an expected return of at least 850,000 assuming that you sell the chips as tickets and the socket stones for 10k each. Doesn't sound like much, but if you don't spend at all, which is rather likely with BH100, you're looking at 25.5m in a month. Which certainly isn't bad for a starting fund.
Alternatively, you could see if there's a successful merchant in your faction and see if they'd be willing to take your coin as a kind of "loan", where they use it to boost their own sales and you get to take it back plus appropriate profits whenever you like and it fits for the merchant. I personally did this for a friend of mine and I took them from 7m to 20m in less than a month.I am Olba. Not Ol, not Baze nor Blaze. And even less would I go by Olblaze. Merchanting is ****ing depressing.
I'd rather be poor, grind, or CS. (I do all 3 intermittently).I've quit excluding TW for my faction. But I still hang around to help out those who still enjoy the game under PWEs horrific handling and to have fun in the forums. b:cute

Could aways just stick to things that are tied to token prices, hypers, tele's mp/hp pots and oracles(II). The return is not that large and you are depending on mass sales to make alot of coins.
A friend in my faction and previous one was a hard core merchant, all he did for over a year. He started off small like 1k-year lees' and worked his way up.
He is gone now from the game, but I think he once said it was scarey how much coin he had, and he never spent one RL dime on this game.Marine - Marshall - Raging Tides - Retired

The merchanting failures you quoted from me were pretty much my entire merching history.

Uhm, I have around 6m in raw coin after I spent it all on my cape and wizard's flyer.
So yeah, guess that's gonna stave me over til I can CS again.
I do BH100 whenever I can. It's not that I can't keep up a shop 24/7 (I have very reliable internet service and computer), it's that I don't know exactly what to do, and when I do try to do it, I always end up taking a loss.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Sometimes you have to lose money to make it though.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -
these people dont sound like they are running their merchanting operations with stop-loss thresholds, or long range goals aside from makeing lots of money. gold has seen spikes and fall-offs but generally, if you cant see a profit selling what you are selling now, as long as you bought it relatively low, hang on to it and its value will improve, as the longer the game runs on the lower the relative value of coin to gold will be.
of course if a huge opportunity presents itself, you are right, selling at a loss will be advantageous as the return you will see from the opportunity will exceed the loss, but those opportunities are less common and less reliable. e.g. +11/+12 sale, 22.5/100 pack sale, 83% orb sale. in all those cases, future sales are unknowable, so selling your current inventory to take advantage may still not be the best idea, the likely-hood of re-occurrence has to be factored into whether its prudent to liquidate at a loss, and even then its gambling.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Yeah, it's a very rare occurrence, but I've made tons of coin in the long term by using short sales to help effectively corner a market. You need to have a lot of excess to be able to do it though. For a while I like playing the markets and manipulating them, but eventually it got boring and too much effort to maintain. And it's pretty cutthroat as well and by driving short sales to frustrate other merchanters to price out of spite and subsequently lose their ***** just to profit from it was just too much work for me. b:surrenderI post in forums. Merchanting aside, I would have just TM69 for the ghetto wraith gate cape and used the rest of the CS money towards the rest of your aps gears.0
