That depends greatly on what gear your sharding and your budget.

Generally its citrine's, +10 vit stones if u can afford, DoTs if your refines are high enough to give u decent base hp.

DoDs and Jades are in my opinion overkill for a sin. But I might be slightly biased being a sage. b:chuckle

i was planning to +10 everything except orns (i'll think about that after) so i was thinking DoT seem to be a good idea as everyone else seems to be suriving long enough to not need cit/vit. just kinda curious where i should go from here b:surrender

Before even thinking of DoT's or other high end shards I suggest refining your gear to atleast 5-7, including orns or even more refine. With g13 Nirvana's I have 6200 hp which is enough for what I do, but I got my DoT's before I worked on refing my armor and such and was a bad idea. The gains from DoT's are very nice but does not help your survivability against high dmg bosses. If a boss can do the dmg of your hp the increase in bp heals from the extra damage does you no good at all. Example- if snake in warsong is not dead by the end of my 2nd spark I will be b:laugh

My mistake was looking for high damage(with r8's first ) earlier instead of high survivability then work on my damage. So even with 6200 hp unbuffed I am just a glass cannon. I can solo SoT aba and other instances very easily because the bosses there dont hit hard, but I cant even finish steelation and gba in 3-1 because they can one hit me. Having around 7-8k hp unbuffed should be enough hp to start working on high end shards for your gear. Just throw +50 hp shards till then.

    My build below.

    Note:
Not sure how I got less than 5 on base magic and hp, happened when I used a reset not some time ago when tweeking my stats.

Yes, because people really need 900+ dex or 1000+ magic just for the lulz

This has actually been possible for as long as I can remember. If its a glitch or just a misprint on what the reset note says it does, I don't know.
Any reset note will reset your vitality and magic to 3 if you want it to. It clearly says it will not go below 5, but it actually will.
I purposely restatted my archer and sin to base 3 mag/vit to use those points in dex.

Yes I thought it was odd, so relogged a few times, did not want to stat just for it to reset or something. It never did so it worked out.

Actually the very first thing is to refine all your gear to +5 with mirages/aids .

The Next thing you should refine is your ornaments . Once your belt, necklace, an rings are +10 it will then be time to get your weapon +10. Then finish +10 the armors. Then once everything is +10 you can either decide to +12 your weapon or go on to purge the flawless out of your armor an add in dot or vit gems. Thats my recomendation.......

don't refine helm more u will eventually get nirvana one...also can engrave rings maybe..keep in mind rank8 ring is pve only...and a lunar or sky cover +10 will give u around 1000 phys def

well all my orns are already +5, armor +6/7 and weapon +10 (cause i was that impatient b:surrender)

would mdef really matter to a sin that much? since all 3 orns give pdef, wouldn't i need something to help out that mdef?

Since basically all bosses that have magic attacks also have melee attacks, m def isn't -that- well needed for PvE. Since sins need to be close to a boss to do damage, it'll be within the boss's melee range, so they'll melee you 4 times before casting their magic attack, which can be easily cancelled via Knife Throw and/or Spell Cutter.

It's mainly PvP where m def counts. Also while I have to kill mobs and such (in BH's, fc, etc), r9 belt and m def cube neck do wonders for me.

Sure I have about ~1.4k less P def and 1 less -0.05 int with those two on, but I receive a lot less damage from not only magical attacks, but from physical too. The 10 def levels from two pieces of r9 is very noticeable.

Which is another reason why I strongly suggest r9 dags as the endgame weapon of choice for a sin.
