Better skills ? thats not a question which has a viable answer cause we talk about two completely different classes.
Cleric is healer , Debuffer with some nice DD options but mostly supports a squad.
Veno is a DD , debuffer , tank , support , it has many roles in a squad.
Both can lvl fast , veno can solo things (especially with hercules pet) , but clerics nearly always find spot in a squads for BHs or FF.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
<--- MALE Veno ..... Moved to G W 2 or maybe not completely , don't know ...... PW addiction

better skills would depend what you want to do your character
clerics are known as a healer mostly, but they can make decent DD as well
they can debuff but venos are better known for that
good soloing class, though it may seem harder since clerics must take the damage themselves
mostly a support class but can play offensive too
venos are important as debuffers
alone clerics are probably slightly better at DD but with a pet venos are fairly nice DDs, probably outdamaging most clerics, though i've never tested
overall a very versatile class, fulfills the role of a DD or support as debuffer
can also off-tank with pets, and is able to solo a great variety of dungeons and bosses with the proper pet (cough HERC)
as for leveling...
at low levels venos will level faster because they have a pet and is able to grind faster
and also because clerics die more b:surrender since they don't have a pet to tank, though you can always heal yourself (some people seem to forget that)
towards higher levels clerics might level faster since they are more needed in a party and will have a greater chance of getting accepted into the squad they need (some of these higher-level instances cannot be soloed, unless you're one of them overpowered R9 +12 assassins...that's a whole different chapter)
another annoying thing i find with venos is the need to level their pet, which can be a pretty tedious process
wish hyper exp stones exist for them b:cold[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Duct tape is like The Force: bright on one side, dark on the other. It holds the world together, and, if not handled correctly, becomes a sticky mess.0 -
I found cleric easier to lvl since they're always wanted in parties until endgame.
Venos are still very good but I had so much trouble finding parties after I hit 95+.
Neither have *better* skills than the other bc they are made to do different things in a party. If you enjoy supporting a party, then ep is for you. If you prefer to DD then veno would be better.
If you are making a farming char then I would go with veno. They are wanted in both Caster and Regular NV, while clerics are wanted more in Caster. Just make sure you invest in lvl 11 amp to give yourself an edge against other venos.0 -

Why not level both? b:victory
I play both characters and it worked out great. The cleric is definitely easier to level as they are always wanted for squads (unlike venos) but my veno comes in handy for grinding money and mats for my cleric to use. My veno also comes in handy with tanking stuff my cleric can't handle or when my cleric is not needed for the squad. Playing multiple characters also provides a nice break from the monotony of one character. Another bonus is that they can both be arcane and thus share gears and weapons. When one character out-grows their stuff, you can pass it down to the other character. Win-win!0 -
Both are really different classes. But are equally fun.
Clerics mainly healers in squads and don't get to do much damage doing since they're trying to keep everyone alive. I do think clerics have a lot of fun skills though. I did the weekly tournament with my cleric last week and I was able to kill a sin and barb that ganged up on me. b:victory
My veno is my main though and I love playing it. I can tank bosses and solo a lot more than other classes. When I am in squad I play more of a support role. Saving squishies and debuffing bosses.
As for leveling I think they both level quickly until lvl 70 then Clerics seem to level faster since they are always needed. Luckily my veno is friends with a lot of clerics so I'm invited to a lot of squads.b:pleased
Try both you can always mail gear to your characters if you don't have a account stash. Have you thought about trying a mystic? They're a lot of fun to play and can easily switch from healer to damage dealer.0 -

Thats what I thought when I made my mystic. And I can count the number of times I've been invited to squad to DD on one hand. I have more trouble finding squads for mystic than any other class. Sadly, people see it as a "last resort" healer class and haven't realized it's debuffing/DD capabilities yet. b:surrender0
