So when I was doing FCCs regularly many months ago I asked for opinions on axes and Josh suggested a pair of OHT axes with Sacrificial Strike. I eventually got them and they were amazing but eventually I stopped needing to use axes except for HF. However recently I've gone back to FCC to solo and I'm look at doing TM69 in the future so I need to upgrade to something significantly better.

So my question is should I go for R8 or Vana Axes? R8 would be a nice cheap G14 and would out damage first Cast Vana. However 2nd cast Vana has GoF and is G15.

I suggest getting rank 8 simply because it's very inexpensive. If you have the time and energy, you can even get 2 rank 8 axes and recast one into advanced purge and one into GoF. b:pleased

I'd pick R8 over nirvana for the fact that you might get R9 later. If you won't get R9 then I'd say G15 nirvana axes with sac strike will be better.

R8 is good and can be reforged and is cheaper than nirvana but recast nirvana will out damage r8 .
But nirvana can be stashed if you ever think of making a barb.

To me the 2 biggest factors are:
    1. Do you already have alot of rep? If so 2 mil for axes equal to about 200mil Nirvana axes is a great deal.

    2. Do you want another weapon for Rank 8 instead? The big base damage of R8 makes them an appealing choice for almost any weapon. As I said, getting that much damage for so cheap is great for axes, but R8 fists with r8 -int recast can be comparable to G15 fists. And there are very few pole and sword choices as good as R8, making them appealing options. So if you are mostly interested in the axes over the options go that way instead of Nirvana, but if you are considering the other weapons for R8 (since you can only pick one) then its up to you.

A perfectly recasted r8 fist with two -0.05, +25 attack level, and +2 meter range is better than G15 fist (which cannot get +2 meter range). Just to thow in some perspectives in terms of chances of getting those add-ons:

    R8 Recast:

    Unique Add-on:

    Atk. Level +10~25 - 25%

    Regular Add-ons (3):

    Interval Between Hits -0.05 seconds - 0.13%

    Range +1.00~2.00 - 0.66%

    G15 Nirvana:

    Unique Add-on:

    Berserk - 46.5%

    Regular Add-ons (3):

    Interval Between Hits -0.05 seconds - 5%

    Your decision.

I highly recommend getting blade for rank 8 since it's the only blade in game with the possibility of getting intervals with the following add-ons

God of Frenzy: Infuses the wielder with divine fury! Has a higher chance
to deal double damage. Costs 5% Max HP. - 7.69%

Square Formation: A wonderful battle formation.
Has a higher chance to cause Immobilize and Silence effects. - 15.38%

Thunder Strike: Has a chance to Freeze the target for 4 seconds,
and reduces the target's Physical and Magic defences. Lasts for 8 seconds. - 15.38%

So even if you're not super rich, you can still obtain the following build:

That is 2.86 aps after demon cyclone heel. Might be useful in pvp. b:cute

Totally forgot about the other R8 weapons. However in terms of how often I use other weapons I think I'd go with the axes. I can always upgrade my striking dragons if I ever felt a need to go G15 for my fist and the pole blade I only ever use in vana.
