Error Message

Can a GM please look this error up? I just get a jumbled message that's not even in chinese. It has to do with graphics stuff. I get it randomly and it's very evident that the textures go solid (aka no shadings etc just solid colors on everything). Not sure what it means so I can't really understand the problem to solve it.

So came back on and I was glitched in the floor. I couldn't use any skill or anything. Only way I found to get unglitched was wife used a squad signent.

Same thing happened to me when i was teleing to RT a while back. Had to use a teleport stone to get un stuck.

I'm going to play really nice and just say I hope admins had a good weekend off. I trust you guys will see this tomorrow when you do have work (about 12 hours from now) and say "thank you for the report we will look into it please submit a ticket with the dxd and all that jumbo so we can investigate" post.

The first glitch is a problem with the client loading textures. It became an issue with the genesis release and has been getting increasingly worse.
Submit a ticket and they'll pretend to look into it.
A good temporary fix is to turn your texture slider down a notch.

The second one is related to the first one. A cheaper fix for it is to log out and back in.

Logging out and back in doesn't fix the floor glitch.

I been trying to tell them for years now, fact that there is now a error message (finally) doesnt tell you or them whats going on. So it will be placed as "can not reproduce" or "unable to fix". And yes, this makes the error stick in for a lot longer b:angry

The error is caused by a graphical glitch, likely OpenGL that hangs itself once again. This makes especially teleporting to and from Archosaur the most likely crash. The graphics card needs to calculate so many people (pc connections) and keep tracking them that OpenGL messes up and causes a crash to Windows often. Why this effects the videocard and not the connection instead? Well not sure actually, but I think it may be because the connection is just for upload and download. Meaning if this is good enough, xDSL, Cable, etc. You should not have any problems, since it will only do your upload of your key inputs (what you doing on your side) to the server. And what others do which comes from the server to you (download part).

Now I know, many will start to say "what you explain is not OpenGL", "this what you say about the crash is not true", etc. etc. However I do speak the truth in this, only if you have your settings to even slightly higher settings, specially options like Soften, Warp, V-Sink, Sharpen and Distance you will notice that you crash a lot quicker then with these turned off. Meaning it is a specific component of the graphical story which narrows the search where to look. Knowing that these are more advanced options, you should be able to rule out all basic forms of graphics. So you easily reach things like OpenGL and it's scripting and possible other settings that remain. However, I know that OpenGL had already problems for years. Many games have issues with OpenGL but no one even looking into that because they all think it's the good part.

Something that is there for years, doesn't mean it is working as it should. Things break down and so can things like OpenGL. What could be wrong with it? Well that part is not for me to figure out, it is for the game industry to figure that one out. But my fair bet is to look at compability towards new videocards (2005 and newer), likely this can cause problems. Also another option that the game industry can do them selfs, is to check up on the coding of the OpenGL part. It is possible that the coding is broken, meaning a wrong bracket, a missing bracket, or false number somewhere in the coding etc. This will be a hellish job, I know. And deffinately doesn't have to be the game industry that messed that part up. But why not search for that and see if something is not right in there? Can't hurt to figure that one out.

If the game industry doesn't listen to the techies that play their games, they may as well stop producing games all together. The problem with companies today is that they think to much of themselfs and not listen, and that in a age where information is power! b:laugh I just hope they will pick up this message read it carefully and check everything I gave up as suggestion. Else we will be crashing a lot longer for things will remain unfixed....

after getting constantly kicked off with that error, i decided to verify the game files, after i did that i was able to play again, hopefully it will work for you as well

I keep get the error that i not able to read and i id verify the file and it still not working someone help me please.

From the patcher, manually turn down all settings and un-check everything you see. This should fix the problem until you can get back in game and re-adjust things.
