If you were given the opportunity you guide a new person to the atmosphere and playerbase of our server, what would you say? How would you describe the well-known factions and players?

This should be stickied as well for next time our server/forums get wanders, if this thread actually becomes serious.

Also, avoid flames, for this thread at least, we have tons of other threads to flame and bash in. b:victory

how would i describe HT? Alive, even if TW seems dead. Tw moved mostly to WC and its fun for everyone, coz you can be a spectator or interact in other ppl's "TW" when its held over WC :P oh and you dont need to be r9 for that, tho you might be called a non-factor if you dont have it. Good part is noone ever wins. Not even the r9s.

Factions, hmm lets see... theres Enrage, the oh so bad guys. They steal your cookies, they pk you when you're just a baby and try to change your diapers and they trash talk you when you run back to mommy to wipe ur tears. If you log into the game and press M you will see that puke green all over the map. Yep thats them. PPl say they are carebears, guess thats why they will soon turn the whole world into green fields. Puke green, but still green

Then theres GoldDigrz. As their name says, they dig. They call themselves farmers. Still havent seen any ranch around here, must be because they are farming tickets. No not plane tickets, nor movie tickets. It tissues tickets... if you dont understand what that is, its ok... it has something to do with the EYES. No not the ones you will wipe from tears when you meet Enrage. Long story, nvm... They say yellow is the color of gold. Well, if you look at the map you will see theres not much gold left around

Radiance, so radiant! Rise and shine is what ppl say in the morning... radiance said it so many times along the history of HT, they are like the eternal flame, fades away, but never dies. Guess thats why the orange is destined to be tied to their name.

This is a small explanation that will help you through out your stay at HT.
FACTIONS! Ooh baby, factions! So you are now level 100, your mom just got her welfare and you got an A on that midterm, she gave you 100 bucks! Go spend 80 of it, get Rank 8 and now you can decide which faction to apply to!

Enrage: You will be labeled as the big bad neighborhood bully that steals your lunch money. Also you have a fetish for toast.
Radiance: You're Will Smith, aggressive but polite and will never try to do anything inappropriate on a first date. A genuine gentleman.
GoldDigrz: You're M. Night Shyamalan. You were kind of interesting at first, but now you're just trying to throw around the cash you accumulated with the little success you had when you first started. It's not working out though, you keep making crappy decisions and are slowly turning in to the pissing pole of the server.
Drakon: You are Paris Hilton, being naked in front of a camera is as natural as breathing to you. You let others fund your stuff while you just giggle and look cute and take stuff off on cam. However the cam sessions might become quite monotone after some time.
XwarX/Dominus/Pinoy/etc: You are Jekyll (And Hyde). You are not a person, you're just an "alternative" for another character or person.

Ah yes, the forums. The forums are very important. They however also have their own rules, the first rule is you have to make a QQ topic about Enrage. At least once.
Of course, not wanting to be a hypocrite, I of course have made said topic long ago.

Anyways, if i had to describe the playerbase of our server in general, i'd say it's incredibly carebear. People complain and QQ about the most silly things and thanks to this, one faction called enrage has stood out for being the "bad" guys the entire time, while Radiance from the old times was able to become popular because of their ideals that perfectly matched the playerbase.
This is probably why both factions have been able to survive for so long while other factions fall and crumble. They both have ideals they try to maintain still until this day while the other TW factions have none. xWaRx and dominus are smaller guilds, but it's not clear what they stand for. Drakon has been trying to propaganda a so called "brotherhood" which is of course total fake.

Most TW factions are not TW based and tend to survive longer, like nocturne. Nocturne is just like Radiance created on the very first day when PW came out. And nocturne is still an active guild. Just like radiance and enrage they have had their own ideals from the start that they kept up until this day which sets them apart from other factions. As non TW faction it's a very succesful faction considering they are an adult only faction, and will remain that way. Other factions don't stand out, except a few do TW on occasion, but not seriously. Because they are a small non TW faction, even if they do TW sometimes, they can survive much easier because people won't create drama or abandon these factions when they lose in TW. And having less members can really help bond better between eachother unlike bigger guilds.

Through time, i think i've seen major movement of people moving from one TW guild to another. It has surprised me how easy people actually move around based on the successes of guilds in TW and general activity. Because guilds are so big, people tend to be more friends orientated, and thus move around together or follow their friends elsewhere. So to me it appears, a faction is just a shell for people to use, and once it's not interesting anymore, it's reason for them to move away. Of course this counts for TW players who became scarse, and the fewer there are, the less interesting TW will be.

GD is a good example when we look what happens to TW player movement and what happens when we get less TW players. GD is a product of TW players that left Enrage, Tao, Radiance, Caesar, Dominus, you name it. I know a friend who left and told me he was going to take care of Enrage, however when a faction is getting less active TW'ers, you'll see that TW is getting less interesting. This of course counts for all factions currently. And in time, GD will show us that's it's a good example as well for downfall, like what happened in the past with Caesar, Belial and Tao. When you're created by players that have left their old faction for friends, they will do the exact same thing again when they lose interest in GD. The serious TW'ers will follow, and that's when a faction ends.

Overall, the server is not interesting at all. There is no competition, people are too nice in general, and there are so little factions with real history. Factions are also way too big, and you could say that the playerbase of the server is too small for the factions to keep TW interesting. When i compare these things with my previous game, the previous game has everything this server lacks. However personally i got way more friends here, because the guilds here can have 4 times more members, and the fact that i've seen a lot of people come and go means there's a lot more "fish" to befriend with.

I wouldn't agree that the playerbase is too small for good TW. HT has a competitive player base with F2P and cash shoppers alike. However it just so happens the TW tacticians ended up in one faction, and as GD proved, better gear alone cannot best the experience under the belt of Enrage's core TWers. There's definitely enough gear on the server to challenge Enrage; the real question is whether there's anyone left outside of Enrage capable of organizing and using all of it.

I'd agree with you if we actually had enough active tw'ers, like we had 1,5/2 years ago. True, it seems the current tw factions severely lack tacticians. Seems a lot of them have quit the game, and the fact that i used to make rosters for like 6 months says enough since i don't see myself as a tactician at all. But the thing is, even if one guild can stand up against enrage, it will still remain boring (besides having decent fights).
In my previous game, the max amount of members in a guild was 56. And overal we had about 40 people online for war of emperium. In that war, you made pacts/alliances with other guilds to share or help on your and alliances goals. What happened was, you get to see 4 guilds fighting vs 4 guilds, or even a threeway of 4vs4vs4, and that to me is pure epicness. To me it's not just the fight alone, but the whole strategy around it and all the interests of each guild. If i want to simply fight, we could just form a pk guild instead.
Of course in TW you can't fight with alliances in that way, but if the TW player base was bigger, we'd have more serious TW factions with real goals in TW, and that would totally change TW as a whole, back to what it used to be when nobody really were able to gain control of the map and where you had several enemies to look out for.

GD already has (or at least they had; I don't pay attention to their member list anymore) enough gear on the table to last more than 20 minutes.

Rad yea I admit has a harder time filling their roster. Well, as it was said a while ago before the map reset: if the server really wanted to take down Enrage, it can. Make 2 challenging enough factions and just keep ganking.

I think the guild size and TW system are closely related. If the number of people able to TW in one instance is reduced to say 40 per faction then the member cap would be around....100? Could make things interesting I guess. We'd have to field TWers more carefully in smaller scales.

compare how it is these days with how it was, let's say, 2 years ago. these days, there's 3 proper tw guilds, with #1 so far ahead of #2 and 3 it's not even funny, and guilds (besides enrage) are struggling to recruit

Where the guilds stand in terms of strength has nothing to do with the number of people in the playerbase. There are new players going into the TW scene, as unlikely as that sounds with how crappy the game is, but if you actually had an active faction you'd see new names applying to them all the time. The player base is not small at all. The difference between now and 2 years ago is the balance of TW skill is super skewed. This means the new player base has become more stupid, not smaller.

i'd argue that it's a combination of both... there are clearly less tw guilds these days compared to the past

Back then it was Enrage, Caesar, and Tao. It's 3, much like it is today, except the 2 and 3 are much farther than the 1. I still think GD can pull it together if just one person knew how (and their players learn to play better...).

Rad, Enrage, Tao, Triad, Caesar, TE was somewhat still goin around, still had Elysium (sp) tho they died out very quickly after.

not to mention the countless lil babeh factions that tried to run train on Radiance.

Torm is a name I haven't heard for a while. However, Regarding the push down B lane tactic. It's used because other 'TW' factions can't beat the top guild 1vs1. If the other factions showed up and gave a strong fight then it would cause things to be changed up a bit. TW has become monotone. Part of the reason is the server caused a good portion of the skilled remaining players to all end up in the same faction with all the drama that was going on throughout TW history. So yes every player that was TWing throughout TW history in some way caused the outcome of what TW is today.

they can recruit all the best players cuz they have the reputation of completely destroying all competition in TW. And all the new players that come see that and want to join "it" too lol

Maybe that's where Radiance is going wrong. We keep having people promise to sing (including urbanpulse) if we beat Enrage, yet we keep loosing against you guys. b:sad
