Probably me, cos she is a dumbass.

The info was incomplete and the emails looked wierd. Anyone who followed any of the links is not intelligent, theyre stupid. Just because they were lucky and this time it was all legit doesnt mean ****. Susupicious email from suspicious source is, lol, suspicious. Especially with PWE saying nothing upfront about it.

Dont call me a ****ing ****** for being suspicious about something when there was plenty of cause.

Also, a lot of people are suspicious of emails like this, go ask Sony about a similar recent case : http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/Website-and-Forum-Help-Feedback/Playstationmail-com/td-p/6440001
I've quit excluding TW for my faction. But I still hang around to help out those who still enjoy the game under PWEs horrific handling and to have fun in the forums. b:cute
#Shame about PWEs absolutely craptastic handling of the goons glitching. Remember kids, there's no punishment for breaking the rules here!#
If you make a valid complaint, your thread will disapear. Don't post it here, post it on other sites where PW can't hide it.

Just to let you guys know, this is NOT a scam email so you don't have to worry. You can safely disregard and delete these emails. We apologize if you got spammed with these email notifications. This was unintended.

You know what, I'm not even going to go there with you. If you can't spend the 30 seconds to investigate something yourself then you are the dumbass.

I investigated the email given, determined it to not be a scam/fake, and posted why it isn't right here in this thread just do to the sheer number of people that seemed to think it was. And following the links is not intelligent? lolwut. Even if it was a scam, what in the world could they possibly do by you seeing where the link ends up going? You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. (The worst that could happen is that they find out that email address actually belongs to someone so they can send more mail, but guess what! Email filters!)

There sure was plenty of cause to be suspicious, but 30 seconds of effort and logical reasoning easily determines it isn't fake. If that is somehow to much effort for you then you are truly the dumbass.

Hell even in that example given just following the link busted it as being fake. If it was a scammer/phishing email why would they be using the actual company's login mechanism for authentication? Explain to me how that even makes a lick of sense.

Its somewhat easy to mask a link to lead elsewhere than from what it indicates and my investigation was a quick check of previous emails from PWE which all came from perfectworldinc based email addresses.

Moron. Also, this thread will get consta bumped until a GM makes a sticky to explain this, like they shouldve done before they even started.

    ...

You don't know how the internet works do you?

The link in email went to http://www-staging.perfectworld.com/login Now why in the world would someone be "phishing" or what have you and send them to login from where they are trying to take your info. Explain to me how that makes any sense whatsoever. (Again, subdomains can only be created by the owner of the domain, there isn't anyway around that)

If the link itself goes to the actual company's website why in the world would it be a scam? If you still somehow don't understand it then you really are an idiot. Calling me a moron when it really is you that doesn't understand how any of this works (and obviously is just mad because you couldn't figure it out).

Maybe you should have warned the community that something like this MIGHT happen, as many of our security systems have already flagged the emails and sent them to the appropriate sources as scams! Just food for thought -.-

    1. It did say to login, but the url of the site it wants to to login at is a perfectworld domain, point invalid
    2. Painfully obvious computer error, look at the dates a bit further down and you can tell it is a ticket you know was closed, point invalid
    3. Where is the mispelling? The domain the link goes to is www-staging.perfectworld.com. Subdomains can't be created by anyone if you didn't know that...
    5. It goes to a reputable website and the email contains information they would not know unless PWE gave it to them, point invalid
    6. See below, point invalid

    1) Just like the fake ebay.coms also appear as ebay domains. At the time there was no way to prove that it was the real one, and so anyone with a brain would have assumed it was suspicious. point invalid

2)It wasn't an obvious computer error, the dates opened and closed were the same dates that the email was sent. Why would it have all the information correct if it wasn't a scam? Yes it could have been an computer error, but it could have just as easily been phishing. Point invalid

    3) Like I said before, not everyone got the same link. My was not staging blah blah blah. point invalid

    4) you don't know how to count point invalid

    5) It contains information someone who had the ticketing system would know, but not the actual usernames. point invalid. No smart person would click a link to get redirected to the legitimate website from an email that seems suspicious. point invalid

6)That post was made after the fact to let customers know, a person who was concerned about the email would not be able to time travel into the future to know that information about the error would be posted soon. When people were concerned, there was no such information available. Only a moderator posting that it was 100% a scam. point invalid.

You were right about this one, but scam emails that look exactly like that one get sent to people all the time. Particularly from places such as your bank, or ebay. It's smart to be assume it's a scam until proven otherwise, instead of clicking links from suspicious sources.
But if you want to keep clicking links in suspicious emails, go right ahead. Just don't say nobody warned you.
    2. It was a bit weird looking so that is why I decided to investigate it.
You investigated it by clicking links in suspicious emails, the people who posted did so by asking the company themselves. You keep trying to call people stupid for suspecting the email, but why investigate something if it's not suspicious. You're contradicting you're own point here. Why? Because your point is invalid.

You know what you can get by clicking bad links? Hijacking and keyloggers. I've seen it happen plenty of times. We actually got a really nasty porno ad generator at the workplace after someone clicked a link that they thought was from their bank. You shouldn't click suspicious links.

    1. If you are talking about domains like ebay.com.asdhnkasudfnsikerhbwywiuehrwiuenrdasjkdfn.realdomain.com then you are a tard for believing that it is real. (and why most webbrowsers are catering for those tards now by greying out everything but the actual domain), point invalid if that is the case
    2. Yes it was, click here!, point invalid
    3. It may not say that in the link but that is where it gets redirected to due to their software needing some kind of authentication (which it seemed it wanted to do with OAuth, again Google it if you've never heard of it)
    4. I skipped what you said originally as you actually said I was correct that time
    5. You are assuming that they can actually do anything by you clicking on that particular link... (unless you believe typing really fast in a nonsensical fashion like in the movies is hacking, or you somehow believe they can really do something with an IP address (they can't unless you have absolutely no security)), point invalid
    6. Why should you take what a moderator says as official? Moderators are no more official at what they say then anyone else. A GM did confirm exactly what I said mere minutes after I had posted it. Do I need to post that response yet again?, point invalid.
