Why do pdef shards protect more than mdef at same grade

Why do the pdef shards offer more resistance than mdef shards at the same grade? Is there a logical explanation for this?

Does this make pdef shards a better buy? Maybe get pdef shards and mdef orns.

    Same reason refining the same grade of arcane set yield less HP than heavy or light armors.

    same reason mdef orns refine less then pdef or why there are only 2 mdef buffs vs 9 pdef buffs

    mdef shards cost less tokens at boutique agent also, so kinda good if you're combining m-attk shards.

    As for Arcane gear refining for less HP than the equivalent level HA gear, that just proves PWI hates casters b:cry
