Without having to get these axes im curious about the proc. So if I cast highlandcleave or fissure on a group or mobs or players will the stun proc if it chooses to porc....Hit one, hit noone, hit them all, hit some of them.

I'm asssuming that the rank 9 recast procs will act the same..

i know that sac. strike can work on more than one but not all mobs, but im not sure about stun proc. though i dont recommend those axes because it can overwrite a drake bash.

Procs that affect you will typically proc based on the number of times you attack (not the number of mobs you hit.) Procs that affect the mobs have a rate per individual mob. So I think Giant Ape Axes have a 10% stun rate for 3 seconds, so 10% of your mobs should be stunned with each axe attack. If spamming aoes that's about 20% stunned durring any given moment.

If the proc is something like sacrificial strike, which has about a 20% chance to proc, then it should proc on 20% of the mobs but only take 5% of your hp because you only attacked once. A proc like Shield of Chi has about a 10% proc rate, so even if you are hitting 30 mobs, it is likely to only proc once every 10 attacks you use.

The issue I hear with Giant Ape Axes is that it messes with peoples Roar of the pride. You can't stun a stunned opponent, so they might be stunned from your weapon, then you use Roar of the Pride and a second later they are unstunned because your RotP couldn't stun them again, so your 6 second stun was ineffective because your weapons 3 second stun had procced. imo its better to use a weapon with sac assault (Calamity axes) and kill them faster and take less damage because they're dieing quicker, then to stun them 10% at a time.

I just used giant ape axes cause they are common an figured someone would konw from experience.

What I am considering is that instead of going rank 9 for the high attack, is that maybe square formation or thunderstrike adds on a recast rank 8 axe would be better option for me since the only pvp I do is in tw. The ideal of doing hf-fissue or something an having them stuned seems sorta cool, maybe more than having the attack levels an gof.

Of course the other obviously sexy recast add for axes is the spirit blackhole.
