    I only ruled out one possibility, and it is the point above. Everything else is quite likely, such as other sites/games/emails being ****.

    That obtaining an IP address is all you need to take over somebody's computer. Good thing there's no way to get IP addresses of the PWI servers... or banks... or whatever, right? b:chuckle

    Some people suffer from crazed paranoia that everyone and everything is out to get them. **** them, steal their info, steal their stuff, conspiracies of the companies and governments coming to get them, when in reality they have nothing anyone cares about.

    You can't convince otherwise. Slap a tinfoil hat on them and call it a day.

    That's assuming that they have an old version of windows Vista or earlier, unpatched, and have absolutely NO security whatsoever. Hell even your standard dsl modem comes with a firewall that can block those basic attacks.

    I dare you to try and **** me just by getting my IP address. It won't happen. Neither will it happen to 98% of users out there. Why? Because the most basic levels of security foil that type of attack. The best you could do is maybe a DDoS attack on an individual by their IP address. Even then, I know my modem has internal measures to prevent it.

    Ehm, I was being sarcastic there. Since it's obvious that you need those IP addresses to communicate with the servers, the idea that having an IP address automatically means you can somehow **** them is ridiculous.

Even when things that have already happened or the kinds of things people (or yes the RMT) are capable of are spelled out, you still say it's impossible rofl.... And ya pick out things here and there w/o reading or understanding.

    Like Sylen here. She never said u can **** people just with the IP address. Although since her friend fried some email spoofer's pc after tracing their IP..... but she didn't mention anything else her friend might've done to do that did she?

    My comment was a direct response to the post by ItsAWolf. (Which I had quoted in the response where I pointed out how silly that was.) It had nothing to do with the OP's post. I've responded to how people get "****" many times, and gone into great detail on what "hacking" really is and how unlikely it is that you will ever see a true **** on the PWE servers/databases here. I even started a thread on the subject once.

    The whole RMT discussion with Bubbles ect... sure that's possible, but extremely difficult, hard to pull off, and so rare that it isn't worth mentioning. Especially given what I know about the data encryption layers that PWI uses in the stream. It's more likely that you will get your account compromised through one of the many, more common methods that I have described before.

    Add to all of that the large number of people that are totally clueless when it comes to internet security and the added attacks by gold farming sites and it's no wonder we see people claiming they got "****", when in truth, they were just compromised by their own ignorance or lack of personal security.

    meh i gave up... they twist everything i say and just don't get it.... I know alot of what i said prolyl wont' happen in PW..... but the fact remains it's not impossible for them to do any of it (and Sylen for these RMT it's not hard to pull off either, not one bit... to KEEP doing it w/o some stop being put on it maybe.). And u wanna know how i know PW's security sucks balls compared to SE? Just thought of this... Try those DDOS attacks in the spring. They couldnt' stop it... the people finally jsut stopped i guess like 6 hours later.... People had tried that **** on FFXI too and were not only shut down in minutes, but prosecuted. lol

    I was only making a point about what would most likely happen in the rare event that pw's database were to ever be breached.
    Too bad the person I was speaking with didn't quite understand what I was getting at, nor did even realize I wasn't even trying to doubt them...
    I'm also aware of the more common methods, I went over that in my first post in this thread, they're similar to the points you made in your post.

    If you even read the thread that isn't what I was trying to say.
    Alasen claimed at one point, then later took back, that rmt had the potential to **** in a game database.
    All I said that if it ever happened, they would rather steal gm accounts than player accounts.

    I already said like 5 items already that rmt would be more interested in using lvl 1 chars for gold spamming or venos for botting.

    ya um... i went back and looked... took me 5 secs to find where u were talkign about. She didn't take anything back if u can read correctly. Some RANDOM PERSON (not RMT) **** her guild leader's account. From what i can tell they went after him specifically outta vengeance or something considering they were bragging about it later. How they did it.... god knows..... coulda gone in to the server itself somehow... and kept playing the force log wars with him or some other way but still.......
