I guess this forum is for posting questions you have (am I right?). Well, even if it isn't for doing that, can someone plz answer my question (?). I'm new, and i'm going to be a tailor. I got the quest and it told me to look for logs. i'm like, that's easy. But it's not! So i look around the whole island, and there's no log! Can someone tell me where i could find a log?
(PS if it helps any i'm a tide-born). b:question

Well, it IS easy. The problem is that there's nothing that says "log".

First, you have to buy a pickaxe (sold by the "Merchant" NPCs). You just have to get one once; it will sit in your inventory forever. So, it's a few coins well invested. It doesn't even have a duration, so no repairs.

With the pickaxe in your inventory, go search for "Withered tree roots" (or something with a very similar name). These things are somewhat hard to spot, since it's just small objects on the ground. When you found one, move your mousepointer over it --- it will change to a harvest symbol. Left click, and you'll move to the thing and start harvesting (there'll be a blue bar on your screen that fills up). When you're done you'll have a log or two in your inventory.

The "mines" take a good deal of time to respawn, so you'll have to continue searching for more, rather than just waiting for the respawn.

All the resource-harvesting works like this, and there's a lot of quest-objects that are also used in this manner.
Slow progress, game is getting way too grindy :-( Quests I still hope to be able to do some day: FB39, General Feng

I think I have a new question! My friend is trying to download the game (awesome, right?). But, it says it can't connect to the server! Can you believe that? So he did what the help page said and it did the exact same thing! So, he tried downloading it off of a different site and, nothing different happened. He's practically given up trying to download it and he's been trying all day! Hope you guys can answer this!

There are a number of standard things that people do wrong.
    • It could just be bad luck, when you try during the "maintenance" downtime. Most games still don't bother telling the user what's happening, instead giving obsucre "connection failed" messages. Unlikely to be the cause if you tried several times over a longer period.
    • You could be using the wrong version. Basically, never download from anywhere except the official downloads from the official website of the game you want to use. Google is evil --- they will happily give you versions from other operators (even if those are already dead), malware-infested versions etc.
    • You could have a stupid firewall setup that blocks outgoing traffic non-web traffic. You'll have to search around a bit to find the ports used by Perfect World so you can allow outgoing traffic to these.

I get a quest that says to look for wood, not logs, wood (but i thought it was the same thing!) so i get logs not wood, logs and it doesn't count! So where do you find wood anyway? PS the same thing happened with iron ore, i find a rock that says iron ore and gives me pig iron! :(

If it's not a mineable item (such as those listed on the Crafting PWI wiki page), you will probably have to check your quest log to see if it gives you some indication of where/how to get that item. For example, there is a quest to get just "Wood", but it drops from Oddfoot Pup Lancers, which are located NE of City of the Plume.

    Hope that helps!

I'm still a newb, so me and my friend (yes, the one with the downloading problems) are looking to find the best race, so we can take the best class. Any suggestions? It would really help if you listed the advantages and disadvantages for each race because everyone has different opinions. I really hope that the experienced people out there will help a newb like me! Thanks!b:bye

    can read post?

a general answer to your question, at any rate, is http://pwi-wiki.perfectworld.com/index.php/Class_Guides (not perfect by any means, but close enough)
and http://pwi-wiki.perfectworld.com/index.php/Classes (click images for individual class data)

and whatever you do...don't make a sin. just...don't (too many of us to begin with b:chuckleb:laughb:surrender)

EDIT: it is much easier to suggest a class if you tell us what YOU like in a class, or dislike in a class (same for your friend), since sometimes play styles just don't mesh with a class, or you simply dont like an attribute.

ex: i know someone who is an incredible cleric, and a fair hand at any other mage class......but she fails utterly at playing a melee class. every time. and vice-versa, know some melee-only people.
Things said during a Twizted faction PK session:
Slayer_of_Souls: you guys are such suck ups. none of you have attacked twid.
Twiddzly(fac leader): no, sere killed me already.
Slayer_of_Souls: he's out there waiting for us, isn't he. i'm gonna die.
Sereneai: b:sin why don't you come find out.
    Kinglkaruga: you go first dule.
