This is my last say on the new patch, really. The top heaving gearing to be competitive now is almost too much work altogether. To farm that is impossible without LOTS of time. You can't just pick up PWI and enjoy it anymore. Even if you hit lvl100 (supposed to be the time the world opens to you) you are just going to be stuck in a cycle of being unable to compete for months and months of boring anticipatory farming.
Instead of having improved PvP by doing things that would remove the fleetingness of PvP encounters (it's all HURR DURR FACEROLL ONESHOT), the solution presented has been largely to just introduce more powerful gear. So for example, instead of introducing strategic advantages to enable you to become tactically undefeatable, they introduced raw brute force power to enable you to become OP.
Take rank 8. Rank 8 should have been the final PvP gear introduced. Upgrades from rank 8 should have been "customizable add ons" to your weapon, like aura buffs (significant +HP regen buffs, +speed, etc) and things like skills and other things should have been revamped. The gear cap should not have been raised: rather, more and more strategic advantages should have been added, and PvP elements should have been added to the world map, such as the ability for projectiles and skills to bounce off trees/boulders, etc for tactical kiting, and all that. Tactical items such as, items that give cooldown reduction on skills, and other "strategy build" techniques should have been implemented. Players could creatively combine strategic advantages for a custom playstyle and PvP experience.
So instead of actual raw damage power, strategic advantages would be what people would be working towards at endgame. That would also mean that for example, a lvl70 player could possibly beat a lvl100 rank 8 player with careful strategy. Kind of like League of Legends, or whatever. Not based on DPS/DPH and oneshotting, but based on careful strategy.
I don't know how much longer I can keep working, farming and merchanting toward an unreachable goal. Competitive PvP, and more specifically me being a competitive PvPer is more and more like a far, far away door, and it keeps just getting further and further away from me. And I see people charging credit cards and getting there quickly before me and I just realize more and more that this isn't the place for me.
There is FAR too much labour to put in to become a competitive PvPer, period. From the time you hit lvl100 (which would take time assuming you didn't glitch goons or buy heads), you have to decide how much you love PvP/PK/griefing, and then look at gear options that would satisfy that playing need. Currently this is rank 8 gear at base with event onrnaments +7. With this new patch, Rank 8 is likely to become as useless to endgame PvP as TT90. I have farmed and merchanted a fair amount, and I have also CSed a little bit (US$320.00, and I regret every penny; I am not poor either, at all) trying to close the gap and give myself some room to be able to compete.
I'm getting tired and exhausted. Tbh, I'm probably going to try one more time. I'm going to probably put in another $100.00 and boost my merchanting capital one more time, and do my best to grow it to get rank 9. I can't say I'll stay if it doesn't work out. It's getting tiring. Really tiring now. Before rank 9 was the unreachable door. Now I have to overcome rank 9 (a VERY HUGE hurdle), and then possibly deal with assassins with GoF and APS on their +12 grade 16/17 or whatever r9 recast daggers and their full JoSD or whatever, just to be able to NOT GET ONE SHOTTED. I'm not even talking about being able to competitively PvP and take part in large PvP events and survive ganks etc.
Are you getting tired?

I agree with pretty much all of this. I don't cash shop because I can't afford to. So I work my *** off in game doing whatever I can to make money, rather it be nirvana, tt or fc. I have a variety of characters to use in any of those to make me useful. I'm personally just tired of playing at this point because the game feels more like a job than fun anymore..
I stay for my friends, I'm hardly having much fun because its too hard to PVP when you have people who cash shop over $2000 to one shot people, because who needs skills when you got money? lol.. I'm sure if I could afford to blow *** loads of money on r9, I'd probably do it too. I'm just getting bored of fighting people who's only way of killing me is with a weapon that cost them $1000... I guess I find it funny more often than not because I cash shopped $200 ages ago and survive them awhile, I even kill a lot of them, but its still a headache.
Basically, I'm on my last limb in this game too. As if Assassins with their stealth wasn't enough, now the **** have rank 9 to add insult to injury. This game has become a joke, I've played for 4 years and sins were already a pain in the *** after the first one of them realized how to go 5.0 with barrier thorns that hit my seeker like a little girl. But now these guys can be 4.0 with r9 and charm bypass r9 +10 barbs. That is broken. The whole game is broken now, there is no repairing it, at this point its just a matter of who gets bored first; the people farming or the people cash shopping.0 -
I do just fine as a merchant/farmer. I can still compete with cash shoppers i can still survive full r9 +12 people. I am almost end game.lalalala Pokemon

"League of Legends", "careful strategies"? Huh.
If you want to make that comparison, try using real DotA. Or even Heroes of Newerth. In those games, skill actually does matter (more than gear I think, it's actually pretty hard to reach a point where you're unstoppable, and even if you do become unstoppable @1v1, teamplay from the other team will stop you). Otherwise, I do agree. If PWI was like this, maybe a little environment dependant for PVP, updated mechanics, new skills/features and such, something that would lessen the gear gap between people, I'm sure more people would bother to farm and such.
Don't get the wrong idea tho, PWI is a REAL MMO, Dota-likes aren't. It's a different game format, you start over each game, can't COMPLETELY be applied on PWI, there are other things to factor in outside of PvP, such as the inherently evolving economy of the game, and other constant notions. But still, can give out a few ideas.
I always thought that if PWI actually had the support and the staff involvement to back it up, it would be a pretty damn amazing game (because when it comes to the game itself, it's actually awesome and most of the flaws afflicting the game come from lack of involvement/laziness from the staff/developpers that just grow bigger over time because the content fades - be sure to remember this PWI, you'd make way more cash if you actually bothered to treat your players as human beings, and try to work with them. Hard, yes, you can't please everybody, but not impossible). In LoL, community managers are very aware of what their community wants, and in HoN the developpers (at least used to) listen to the players and take their advice into consideration, seeing as the best players were actually included in the beta-testing and contributed to each patch and each big change.
But well, it's way too late for PWI to be like this, and because of the situation of the game in relation to China, I don't think it could be done anyway.Risingson - 7x Psychic
Indalecio - 3x Cleric0 -
Instead of making the game more exciting towards end game, for some bizarre reason PWI seems hell bent on boring the hell out of their players.
No wonder I have seen more and more people leave. To many faction Bye posts being seen all over the place with words like. "PWI has made it impossible for me to continue", "PWI has just made the game to expensive in time, coin, and money to make it worthwhile staying."
To that all I can say is, PWI's loss.0 -

This. And especially that.
I too have stayed on this game for friends, whose numbers have dropped over the last 2 years of patches/CS/aps/R8-R9/glitches/etc. Now the few remaining friends that have been with me since 2008 won't even communicate with me unless I spend $2000+ for +12 R9, in the same top TW factions on the server as them (majority of the people in those are asshats), glitched goons in FF with them before today's patch, no-life it up in TT doing endless farming, endless merchanting or live in nirvana with them, which I need to spend hundreds of dollars to get -int gear and refines for an aps alt before they even think about letting me join them (And that is not going to happen as there is far better stuff to spend that money on). So much for that, all there is left for me will be to uninstall and move on to better things since there is no longer any reason to stay here. b:sweat
I've came across a game that just went open beta over the weekend that caught my interests for the first time in a long time since PWI's launch, it had me playing for about half a day the first time I logged in. None of the other games I've tried have done this until now, so I think I will stick with it for a while and see how it turns out. Feel free to send me a PM if you want to know the name of it. b:victoryRetired b:bye0
