Channeling help?
I just made a noob wiz and well the channeling takes forever. I know in the higher lvs -% channeling gear is common but what about the low lvs? my wiz is lv 25 and i'm having a hard time killing mobs even with stone barrier in place and starting out with gush since the channeling takes too long. is there any gear or weapons (regular or legendary) at the low lvs that helps our class with chanelling?

At lvl 43 I believe the gold glaive gives like -3%...
Plus there's occasionally some lower level items for sale that have -chan, but they're way too expensive since you'll grow out of those levels rather quickly.
Use the money you planned to use on -chan gear on hyper stones instead. Speed up the rate at which you get exp, not that you kill mobs b:victory0 -
or you can use that level 50 (or 60) pot that doubles your channeling speed for a few seconds...
leaving you with 2 minutes of cooldown for every other pot b:cry b:cry[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
guess ill start looking for that glaive and try to hurry to that level. i'll also look into those pots on my barb (since he's the one with the lv 6 apo)0

the channeling on the glaive is not noticiable (I have it), and the pot I was talking about only gives that efect for 5 seconds (remember 2 min shared cooldown) so is not very useful b:sad
but if you still want it, is a level 45 pot (you need that level to use it I think) and requires level 3 apo:

also the hardest part for a wiz is the first 30 levels or so (for me at least), gush's slowdown fails the most and your skills range is kinda short, don't worry about channeling that much for now you are gonna get stronger soon and kill the mobs before they reach you.
are you using jones blessing?
good luck! b:victory[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
ah lol well that sucks c.c around how much % do u need for it to be noticeable? 30%? 40?
no i had already gotten jones for the day for my barb so I wont know how much the improvement will be with it XD but now that you mention it i think that should help alot0 -
-chan get's noticeable as early as the 10% mark for spells like BIDS imo.
For spells like pyro or gush, you won't notice it until around 20-30%.
And when I say noticeable, I mean when you remove the -chan gear. When you're adding it on, you just become used to it and it doesn't seem to make a difference. When you take it off or make a new character without the chan gear you definitely notice it b:chuckle0 -
ah cool ok well thanks for hate heads up0

Another thing is to get a good attack pattern going. Leanred my basics from running a cleric. My current wizzy is level 31 and rising.
I like to start off with a big hit/long channel spell, then based on how much damage is left, I determine my next attack. Your 1st spell should be baed completly on the target's elemental affinity. Example, if it is a water based, then start off with an earth attack like stone rain.
One basic set of attacks I do is:
(Stone Rain OR Divine Pyrogram)--Gush--Pyrogram
if the gush succeeds, and you cna determine that the next attack will not kill before they can get to you and get a swing in, then just run back for a bit, til the gush is ready for another go, and recast it. You can even do this on those annoying little magic resist mobs.0 -

since you're 31 you should have Distance shrink so if they get close use it,
I wouldn't recommend running and not attacking just because the next attack wont kill, unless they're in meele range but you can blink now, so they wont be in range to hit you very often.
Also don't bother much with looking for -chan gear yet, unless you get it as a drop. I mean my first piece of -chan gear was sleeves of the sea captain at 77.I A lot of people0 -

I always start with a single target ultimate=> long channel but it eats a huge chunk of the mobs hit points and you don't have to worry about surviving the mobs attacks while channeling, and follow that with gush to slow them while using spamables=> gush and pyro, stone rain too but only if the mob is water or there is time, while kiting.
Also make sure to utilize Jones blessing through facebook connect.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Actually, I run (or to use the real term - kite) alot. It works quite well. While there is a chance to get hit, more often than not, I don't. I save Distance Shrink for real emergencies, like getting away from multiple mobs that get accidently aggroed.
Heck, simple example of how I used kiting is when I was level 26 and solo'd ole Haggiest (who was 9 levels higher than my character was at the time) . Yes, it is quite possible. I just used a tree and kept him running around it while I used gush mainly, with a crown or pitfall tossed in as I could. Didn't take a single hit the entire fight and kept him quited angry with me the whole time b:victory0 -
A few more handy hints for your wizz:
use Force of will (lvl49), a lot! it seals them, and makes them walk away from you, giving you time to maybe get 2 more hits in.
Also, don;t forget will of the phoenix (lvl 39). knocks them away, stops them from hitting you.
Pick your mobs selectively, Increased Mag Resist and increased life ones take longer to kill, so go for normal mobs, or increased defense or weak or sacrificial assault. Increased defense is only harder for Melees to kill, not ranged magic.
Ranged mobs just suck, cos they will always hit you, but be thankful you don't have to melee them cos they normally run from melees and are just simply annoying.
Keep your gear up to level, if you get a weapon with sockets, imbue with the highest sapphires you can.
Do keep an eye on what element the mobs are, and use the element that they are weakest against. Obviously, we don't have all 5, but do what ever works best in the situation.
Hailstorm works sometimes as a freeze, and does ok damage against fire mobs, just don't rely on the freeze to work.
Hyper if you can while questing, this will bump you up really fast. Once you hit lvl 60, things start to get a lot easier with more control spells, and your nice green TT60 sword hits noticeably harder.
Sorry 'bout wall of text, have fun and keep the class alive b:victory0
