I've only seen one in a catshop once or twice. But, at this point, with gold as cheap as it is, you'll probably get it cheaper by trading coins for gold and buying it from the boutique, than it would be by buying it through an intermediary.

It's 15 gold in the boutique, so with gold on Dreamweaver at around 1.25 mil per gold now, you're looking at around 18.75 million coins. If you buy it through someone else they'll be wanting to make a profit, so it would probably be over 20 mil.

you call that "cheap" ?? I find that hilarious.. tho maybe thats just cuz i remember the days when gold was 250k-ish (a year ago) before pack sale after pack sale after pack sale after...

Judging by OP's character level, 18.75 mil coins is NOT very easy to come by just yet.. best bet is to buy one of those PWI cards from the local target/whatever, or one of those all-in-one game cards or even one of those visa gift card things and buy some zen and buy the stone from botique, and with the excess gold left over, sell it off, get some coins, and max your skills/repair your gear/ something else productive to use a few mill coin on.. even at my level it'll take forever to farm up 18+ mill coin.. i think the most i've ever had at one time is 2 mil, and that was after spending many hours outside fb79 farming DQ items from the pirates to get dq points.

Sry, a little of topic, but:
Wow, anyone else remember when gold hit 500K and everyone was astounded that it was that high? Just like gas prices, if they ever hit $2/gal again everyone would think it was cheap. Guess we're easily conditioned.

Yes, yes. And back then you had to walk uphill in the snow. Both ways. b:chuckle

Still, it's about 30% less than it was a few weeks ago on Dreamweaver, so unless he owns a time machine, that's pretty cheap for modern exchange rates.

IMO, you can either keep pining for the "good old days", which actually weren't all that perfect either, or you can adapt. I choose the latter. I started playing before Bounty Hunter quests, for example, and I find them to be one of the most fun parts of the game now.

Agreed, assuming he doesn't have a higher level alt or some friend(s) who are willing to give him a bunch of coins.

He could also try some of the free zen offers, if he's willing to go that route.

Still, my point was, if he was going to buy it himself with coins, that's about how much it would cost, and buying through a middleman would be even more expensive than that, so he'd be better off getting it himself. I figured that how he would come up with those coins himself was a separate question that has been adequately covered elsewhere.

I'm not pining, i just wish inflation in-game was closer to real-world economics, as in, when the cost of living goes up, so does minimum wage and vice-versa. In game would be when costs of materials/etc goes up, as does the monetary reward from quests.

Oh gawd. You want an economics simulator. b:faint

I can just imagine the NPCs now... "Why on earth would I buy that **** piece of armor from you? It looks like it fell off a dead animal. Here, I'll give you two coins for it so you'll leave me alone." b:chuckle

But seriously, if the game did that, anybody who didn't play for a while and then came back would suddenly be much poorer. The real-world doesn't have people going into stasis for months at a time, among other problems with that plan. I think any attempt to do what you describe would be utterly doomed to failure because it ultimately screws over one group or more, depending on how it is implemented.
