i wonder what gold price will clean out the farmers

i raised this question in th espring i think after the first gold price jump.
realistically 300k IS too low for gold and the value boutique stuff should have(IMO)
1mil seems like a decent place..still farmable, but tough, but holds boutique item value like it should.
interesting token prices are still at 300k gold levels (2 packs@150k(40silver)=30tokens-300k
Those should be 60k now.. tomes should be insanely expensive. etc
Ok, well, dont tell anyone, and fortunately there are so many pack sales, the 10k momentum wont be slowed for a long while.
so anyway, now we may see 2mil/gold. coin is now 1/6 the purchasing value of 18months ago (give or take a few months). OH YEAH, i forgot the 20% DQ price hit too heh.
****************************************************************
so here is the point for discussion:
what gold price do you think will kill the farmer base off, if at all, or not or whatever you think regarding this?

In terms of farming what?
DQ farming is pretty much already dead as far as i can tell
in terms of nirvana, and the better TT, those will always be decent moneymakers
Though in truth, you really dont have only 1/6th of the purchasing power from back then, because many items are much cheaper to buy with coin now then they were then
so while boutique only items are highly overinflated now, any item you can farm in game is actually very affordable┌─┐

You can play the whole game just fine with +5 refines.
Nirvana stuff isn't on boutique.
TT isn't either.
Reputation its the only equip in boutique that outmatch Nirvana(R9).
Maybe the new cape and the boots/helm thing are also better than Nirvana's.
But still, you can do just well with a full nirvana gear(In game farmable),with +5 refines(Get Tisha/Tienkang with DQs,and tons of mirages from TTs).
So what's the big deal?,cannot afford 3.3 wings for 100M? lol get over it,they're just a luxury,get 3.0 wings for 8/9M and you're fine.Iam Segreta,Queen of the Chicken Kingdom,proud owner of the legendary Blue Chicken,BEHOLD Mortals o,o^

ya just wondering. i've been playing quite a while so i have a bunch of nice stuff already.
im just trying to explore the economy dynamics in this thread a little and what peeps project. i have no clue.
so far you dont see any problem regarding gold prices is how i read. cool.0 -
honestly... i project that there will be a week or 2 soon where there isnt much in the way of sale items that people want, and gold will come somewhat back down to earth
maybe not to 1.1m again like it touched a few weeks back, but back to the 1.3 range
but who knows, they may just keep making new packs and keep gold inflated┌─┐

Me and my husband earn money solely from grinding. Gold prices are quite frustrating but on the other hand as others pointed out we dont really need something from the boutique. Rather annoying for us is the decreasing value in coins per se... gear gets more expensive in general. I think this mainly has to do with tokens of best luck where you create 10 mill out of nowhere with 2 of them. And meanwhile there is no real coin sink. But that are just my theories...
So in short: Gold prices arent the problem per se for me, but the coin inflation0 -

im curious as to whats inflating though in terms of coins
tt items have not gone, nor have raptures, uncannys, ect
all the items you can get with tokens, such as crabmeats, socket stones, hypers, ect, have all been steady for a long time
i am curious what items you refer to that have seen the prices going up on┌─┐

True, tt remains unchanged for quite some time now. Nirvana has gone up as i remember, not that much the last few months but in the last year, i think around a year ago a rapture was still 1mill or so. And of course all pack related items, int tomes and cape and so on... ok you can argue that is gold realted there^^ Same with fashion, hell a year ago you could buy a top for 400k
Now that i think about it, most items that have gone up are gold related... remains the question whether gold itself gets up because of coin inflation or whether there are other reasons. But thanks for pointing that out to me0 -
I think that by the end of this long X2 event TT mats will be next to worthless (except gold mats) reason being.
-There are more ppl now that are high lvl and can farm there own TT mats
-There are more TT sellers now, and less (buyers) demand for TT mats
Altho some ppl need TT mats for there nivy gear, I lvled a cleric using my old TT gear without making new gear because when I hit lvl100 I'll get rep gear instead, and pass on my clerics old gear to a new toon.
I just ran 2 TT runs and came out with 9 Forsuras armor (and more)in 2hrs... Forsuras armor mat used to be worth 1mil per, now grated that is way to much for that item, now they are worth 70k each, all this in the span of 1 year, following this trend I can see TT mats getting down to about 40k by the end of this X2 event.
Why would anyone with a good head buy any gear when its sooooooooo easy to lvl your toon? when i hit lvl 90 with my mystic i decided to trade in the lvl 40 gear i was wearing for the TT gear my cleric was using. I gess some ppl sell or break down items but thats a different story.0 -
Tokens are still around 10k because the things you can get with them, arn't really anything special, along side of the fact that on each server, there's thousands upon thousands of tokens that are trying to be sold, the fact that people don't buy packs for tokens, but buy them for the actual "greater" rewards speaks for it self, selling tokens is just side money, if a token was selling for 60k, they woulen't sell them at all, all i buy them for is hypers and mp food, you wont catch me spending 180k on 50 potions, so people don't bother to try raise the price as there isn't much point, thankfully, along side of the fact that the only people selling them, are the big cash shoppers that simply don't need them.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

The farmers won't be cleaned out... there will always be casual gamers or cheap gamers to whom farming provides enough.
And within gamers who want items that are costy or gold-priced, there will always still be some insane ones who sadistically farm forever on anything rather than buy zen.
Is this still on topic or I misunderstood OP?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Why should tomes be insanely expensive?
It cost ~270m for a factionmate to make a Pan Gu from scratch. Also lots of time, censored words, and now has the ability to name a tome if given stats.
It's coming down to supply and demand.
If you have a suitably rare item (Say, a Scroll of Tome), you want to sell it, but only one other person wants to buy it, you will waste a large amount of time attempting to sell it for a billion coins, especially if the prospective buyer isn't willing to buy it for anything more than 300 million. You will be shooting yourself in the foot if someone else gets a Scroll of Tome and sells it to the buyer, but haggles the price up to 330 million. In the end, you still have product, the other seller has lots of coins, and the buyer now has a tome.
But... With Anni Packs, I bought 100 of them. When I set up shop, they were selling for around 470k a pop. As the sale marched on, some genius started bumping the price down. 465k, 460k, 445k, all the way down to 410k. I didn't sell a single pack for anything less than 460k, and most of them for 490k. I couldn't see a way to sell packs and buy gold to turn a profit with gold at 1.4 mil and packs at 410k.
So after the other seller sold out of packs at 410k, and the other seller sold out at 430k (or whatever), my shop suddenly sold 20 packs at 490k. And now, I'm going to use the coin to upgrade skills, cause I'm a fail merchant and don't really want to do it QQ101 Sage Sin*/Archer

Tomes and other non-consumable items will never go above their price.
Things like fashion, mounts, tomes, (anything else that isn't "used" or "consumed") usually doesn't follow the gold prices.
Because they stay in the game, the numbers of panther mounts never decrease, so they will only get cheaper and cheaper as more of them become more common. Supply/Demand as the person above me said.
Tokens are a weird exception because there are about a billion of those in the game.
Best luck tokens will never go above 6/7 mill because you can trade 2 of them for a 10 mil bank note. Meaning their value is restricted to 5mil. And then you factor in people wanting to make profits...etc.
Your actual question was answered by Hiemus, though. There's always going to be farmers in a MMORPG. People who like the satisfaction of earning over a long time what they got.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

^these are the things i'm seeing too. also powerlevelling right to rank gear etc, really cuts the need for all the middle level stuff..just levelling **** for the most part. then add th eease of farming these rapidly devaluing items and there you go.
and to the person who wondered about coin inflation, it is solely reliant on gold price. certain boutique items are pretty uselful, but the coin purchase power has been reduced immensely.0 -

^^^This.
Eventually, every single thing in the game will be cheaper form the Boutique, or via tokens.
Until then, enjoy steadily inflating mats prices (except for TT, that's another story).101 Sage Sin*/Archer

you're better off wondering how long till gold hits the 6mil/per cap0 -
There are people, like me, who enjoy farming their gears and no matter of gold price I will farm my TT gears instead of buying them and merchant for rank gears. Also cube necklace is on my farming list. At least some items I need for it.
About token price. Some people buy so many packs that there is plenty of tokens on market so price stays quite steadily just above npc price.
In game there is not really a coin sink so everyay there is more coins in game so of course prices goes up.0
