Everything has its beginnings, but it doesn't start at one. It starts long before that... The world is born From zero. The moment zero becomes one is the moment the world springs to life. One becomes 2. 2 becomes 10. 10 becomes 100. taking it all back to one solves nothing. so long as zero remains... One.. Will eventually grow to 100 again.

Well no, it proves you're an idiot, which I see went over your head so your post sure did prove one thing b:cute. With Bethsoft, Sony, and other actual hacks, that proves it can happen, however, 99% of the time, it happens to idiots, hence, I defer to Zanryu for your case. Thank you though for "proving" it. Way too easy. xD

The odds of some random person in game "hacking" their account by a reasonable definition of "hacking" is extremely low.

I had one of my accounts **** and it was because I let a random person join my MSN. I forgot how I knew them in the game, we talked, played some of the MSN games, and they started sending me the cute kitty images.

Okay I am quirky about my accounts and often I play on an alt that has very decent unbound items (aviation, fashion, gear - anniversary mount). I think this is what got their attention and the fact they knew I was a cser. But what they did not know is that I lock up unbound items before I log... in my bank.

Then my password was changed and my password to my gmail account. I changed it back, and it got changed back. I went to put in a ticket and seems they had put in one saying I was trying to **** the account and oh btw - please reset the bank pass.

I knew then I had a keylogger and scanned my system and found it. PWI asked me a variation of questions to ensure I was the owner.

In the end, I was stupid. I trusted a person who I never found out who they were on PWI, and opened images from them, clicking links.

About a month later I get another MSN invite, from somenoe saying tehy know me from game, and we talk - they send me an image and this time, I dont click it but scan it. Yep a keylogger. I blocked them on MSN.

My mains items are 100% bound, but during this time that account was w/o guild and I was working on this specific alt, so they only got that info.

So becareful .... Nothing was missing, everything was fine and no repeats ...

Key word is "random". I never trust random people. Also, I've been increasingly wary of IM programs, especially **** like MSN. They've been known to be easy targets of those using exploits to send people malicious files.

It was my own stupidity... First, I went by their word that they knew me, second they never answered my 'how do I know you ingame' and third, I clicked a link to view a image they sent to me. Yeah I saw the cute thumbnail in the tiny screen & thought it was okay...

First it started with links to the cute kittens websites then "oh I found this image" (the LOL cats).

Wow..It's funny to come back and see three pages that are mostly people stroking their pathetic e-peens trying to prove how smart they are rather than answering my questions. This thread isn't about how she got **** or how she didn't. I've already said I don't know. This thread is about what PWI does about it. If you can't answer those questions then take your silly attempts to prove how you're the best/smartest person on the internet somewhere else.

Why is it I've played MMO's for 15 years now, especially at a public school (back in HS), around friends, yet never had my account compromised? Easy. Never shared my account info. The odds of some random person in game "hacking" their account by a reasonable definition of "hacking" is extremely low. The odds of random person in game "hacking" their account by people's definition today which is "sharing account info" is extremely high. I'll go with the odds here. Dude might be a creep and a stalker and a puppy kicker or whatever but some people have to burn their hands on the hot stove to learn not to touch it. Some of us don't. Helping them in this case is them learning the hard way to keep their account secure and not to share it. Simple as that. People are constantly warned to stay away from sharing their account info but they do it anyways. Sucks for them when they get what's coming.

The odds are very low you'll be struck by lightning, win the lottery and if you do win the lottery you won't win twice. If someone has an honest to goodness stalker, then it's very possible they got their hands on her personal information. Just because something hasn't happened to you, doesn't mean it hasn't happened. To assume someone had their account shared and that they "got what's coming to them," is stupid. Luckily, PWI does seem to have a system in place to see if someone actually did get ****. And no people don't deserve to be backstabbed by the people they thought they could trust be it a friend, a loved one, or a family member. I don't share my account info, and don't think its wise to share it with anyone, but I wouldn't say the victim "got what's coming to them," either.

A friend of mine got **** recently. Since we can't figure out otherwise, and he did find some suspicious things on his comp, we are assuming keylogger at the moment.

So far they have recovered 4 out of the 31 items that were stolen. They are working on getting his gold back now but have to trace it to make sure he didn't spend it himself before the incident. He was sent a message to let him know they discovered the identity of the hacker and that their account had been deactivated.

A faction mate of mine was **** quite awhile back, and they managed to get most of his items back for him.

Hope that helps as an answer.

I agree. Many people don't realize how much information a dedicated stalker can find out.

Indeed, a friend of mine had a stalker once. He showed up to her dorm room and wrote on her door a bunch of ****, dug through her trash and was able to figure out her password to facebook based off that we are assuming. He was eventually dealt with, but it was pretty scary. He had even figured out info about her family, and friends including where I lived. And had slipped a note under my door trying to convince me to have her talk to him because he was in "love". All this from some random creep she had given fake info to at a salsa dancing party, and who we had slipped out of the bathroom from to get away from. I guess one of his friends must have saw us leave an followed her or something...I'll still never know how he was able to find her but he was. And someone can get **** and it not be server side you guys know. They can **** your network near your home. People get credit card info from stores using this trick all the time, even some ATMs have been **** in that manner. And then your bank info is compromised. Considering the way it was stolen (only selling things when they knew she'd be away) I'm willing to bet that this is how that person was ****.

Thanks for sharing. Not all of her things were taken, luckily. She had thought it was just two things but she realized yesterday that she's missing another of her all-class pets and just hadn't thought to look for it since it's not the one she usually uses. I really do hope she gets her items replaced. She's mostly playing the waiting game with PWI right now, hoping to get an email from them soon.

That's horrifying, but I've had a similar experience. During high school I went to hang out with a friend and some of her friends, who in turn brought some of their friends and there was some guy there that I had only met once who ended up fixated on me. Followed me when I moved to another state and seriously slept in a tent in my backyard and followed me to work. I still don't know how he found out I moved, or where the family I moved in with lived but he did. So if someone is seriously determined, they can make ways to find out.

But, frankly, even if this weren't the case, I don't think anyone deserves to have things they've worked for taken away. All the people who have posted thinking they know better than anyone else and saying people deserve what they get, I almost hope it happens to them simply so they know what it feels like. To have your stuff gone and not know what happened. But that would just make as bad of a person as they are.

To _Ink_ sorry if my sharing on ur thread was outta line :/ was nto my intent, just was watchig waitng for reply too.... Was still shocked how it could happen to me when i really take precautions lol... One good thing about those of us that went a bit off topic is the fact it keeps your post bumped to the top, so more chance a passing eye of knowledge glances it n replies or that a rep from PWE sees it get alot of attention n raise alot questions & makes contact with your friend or others of us recently **** from non keylogger source. either way best wishes to u n urs to a speedy n fair resolution.

I don't mind people sharing, and I definitely don't mind the post getting bumped but because I still have a lot of unanswered questions when it comes to how long it'll take for her to get her stuff back and if all accounts linked to that IP(The one that took her stuff.) will be banned or not. What bothers me is when people let their egos overrun their mouths and they think they're nature's gift to forums and know more than anyone..Then babble incoherently about kittens.*Eyeroll.*
