Beep when using key combos

Okay, I used to play fullscreen all the time and never had this issue, but now with multiclienting, I've been helping to level my barb by doing some of his quests. (he's not that far behind me so level gap isn't decreasing his exp must, just hate the grind on him.)

Anyway.. back to the point b:shy .... When I am in windowed mode, and I hit alt-1 to send my pet, my computer beeps. Has anyone else encountered this, and knows a good way to solve it? Hopefully without hacking my OS settings. (although I may go that far anyway LOL)

Here's my specs for those that need the infos...
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz Quad-core processor
4 GB system ram
Nvidia 8800GT 512MB with driver version 280.26
I think that's it. I'm using Windows firewall only because it's free and I have two hardware firewalls, and I use Malwarebytes anti-malware and Avira for antivirus.

its the way directx's keyboard handler works, when you press alt+ combos in windowed mode, the OS intercepts the keycode first, causing the beep since the code is not linked to a shortcut, when in fullscreen mode however, directx gets full priority, so the keycodes are never passed to the OS. as evidence/proof, take any shortcut on your desktop, go into the properties, and in the shortcut key box, press alt+1, then see what happens when you try to send your pet to attack when in windowed mode..

I know of no workaround/fix for this, well, other then playing in fullscreen that is.. as its a microsoft directx programming issue more then anything i would think. maybe some sort of windower application thats designed to window-mode games that dont have native window mode support, dunno, never tried.. i just live with the dings and beeps, sometimes its actually beneficial having audible feedback when you've launched your pet, like when pulling bosses for example, as your pet doesnt *always* take off after the mob right away, and you've gotta be quick on the unsummon/stow shortcut to get a successfull pull.

p.s. if you want to truly multi-client, ditch windows all together and install linux and run pwi via wine, preferably with a dual-screen setup, you can window 2 clients at once and neither stops rendering the game when you'r in the other open client, though it does lag a bit.
