Ok so i know im a barbarian class; but if i spent the money to get a crimson fox shouldnt i be able to train it? Otherwise WHATS THE POINT b:angry ! I go to the pet master and the pet trainer and while i can feed it; to whatever end i dont know; i cannot teach it skills nor can I attack while riding it. Is this a bug or another let down of PWI? someone plz explain this doo-doo to me bc the game does such a horrible job of it. I ask the pet trainer and I get no relevant info. I've leveled my crimson to lvl 3 and still no skills available and still i get knocked off it everytime i get hit; so how am i supposed to really use it? To be frank I'm serriously considering RAGE quitting PWI over this. After spending 60 USD buying inventory extentions and other such ****; I would expect; no DEMAND; that the "bonous" points I spent on a rider would give me a FULLY FUNCTIONING BATTLE PET. IF NOT I DEMAND A REFFUND OF MY POINTS AND A DISCLAIMER BE PUT ON THE THING b:angry b:angry b:angry b:angry

1. it's not a battle pet.
2. it was never advertised as a battle pet.
3. Mounts don't have skills because they are not battle pets.
4. No other mount in the game allows you to attack while riding it. You can't even use your genie skills. It's been like this since the very beginning and is not likely to ever change.
5. Demanding a refund because you are a failure at paying attention in the first place is just stupid.
6. you failed.
Also note: the higher your pets loyalty, the less likely you are to fall off when you get attacked. Go read some guides. Oh wait.. it's obvious that you can't do that.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
1: It ought to be made obvious on the buy for the pet
2: I didnt see anything on it upon google search so ur fail there.
3: I really dont give a flying red boobied duck who you think failed.
4: There is no need to be a donkey about it
5: It is STILL fail that you cant attack while on it. Seriously WTF is the point then?
6: You sir are fail @ lvl99 expecting everyone to know everything. some of us have a hard time understanding this **** and dont waste all our time on it like you have.
7: Your mother was a hamster and your father smells of elder berries.0 -
Dude... don't get all flamey. It is no good, even if he trolled you. He's just a silly high level dude.
It is indeed a mount, something I rarely use... In PWI you cannot attack while being on mounts unlike in FW, blame original devs for it.
You cannot teach them how to fight either since they only made to reach places (ground only) faster.
Oh btw, as a barb you can't ever use pets to attack... Only venomancers and mystics can (the latter use 'summons' btw, but technically it is the same thing).
What SylenThunder (aka the silly one that had fun trolling you earlier) said is generally understood and accepted by everyone playing PWI.
As for him not having taught you about loyalty, it's something I will do now. To increase the speed of your mount, be on it and move or wait for a while. You also have to buy pet food from the pet trainer so the yellow gauge (named loyalty), goes up. Your mount will reach faster levels and you will get knocked from your mount if you meet monsters much less...
Don't forget to feed your mount often so loyalty remains stable. You could also buy a tome and equip it so it never goes down ever again. b:byeMaintenance time. Please choose a line:
- When is it over? OMG I need my fix!! *super spazzing*
- Fix the damn bugs, dammit! I'm so angry! I'll quit!!
- New codes out there? I like free stuff~ *wink*
- When will we get new content? QQ
- Will we get sales? I got a ton of gold to spend.
- I'm bored, I'll create a useless thread to annoy Opkorock.
- *Incessant poking on Sweetiebot* Fun~0 -
Thank you very much lesthar; that was extremely helpful and i appreciate your council. As to the flaming; that i don't really feel the need to apologize for at least not to the 99 troll. i'd expect better from a 99. but at anyrate if i berated anyone else by accident you have my sincerest apologies.
I do however still feel as if the mounts should grant you the ability to attack. even if it lowers your attack power or speed like the flyers do. I only got the thing because I spent the money anyway and I figured "ya know this would be nice if it works similarly to the flyer i bought. it would make my day to have the choice between rides." and come to find out it doesnt work the same and the ground mount is much more expensive in world resources. which kinda makes it suck a little more. I'm just saying for all the fuss and bother with it; you should at least be able to attack from on top of it. if there were a petition to change it; i would definitely sign it.
Out of curiosity is there one?
I mean from what i would assume if the flyer is -15 to -50 (approximate i havent actually done the calculations I could be completely wrong so nobody jump me for it im still learning everything); then the rider would respectively have -10 to -80 or something with a larger sway because of the added speed; also maybe decrease your base def by at least 12 because you would leave yourself open more etc etc etc. i mean i wouldnt even push for abilities; just the ability to attack monsters. it would be epic to be able to teach it abilities too but then people might cry god-moding or some such. just a thought.
Anyway I really appreciate your clarification.0 -
I don't believe flyers reduce your attack damage unless you're attacking land/water mobs from the air. Same said for attacking air/water mobs from the land, and attacking land/air mobs from the water. That's where the damage reduction comes from.
As for being able to attack on mounts, there is no true need for it. Aside from catching ranged/melee mobs that run from you if you're a melee character (barb, bm, sin, seeker), most other mobs run toward you when you attack. For clerics and any other class that run at the speed of 4.8, a land mount is most useful getting from point A to point B on land (running from Town of Arrivals to Twilight Temple instance saves me time).
As for teaching mounts to attack...naw. I don't really see that happening. The venomancer class is the one true class that can tame any tameable monster and teach it different skills and stuff. Mystic summons have 2 prelearned skills that they cannot change (with the exception of learning a new skill come sage/demon). If the devs of PWI were to give this to any other class, it sorta takes away from the venomancers, who are already receiving the short end of recent updates.
Hope this helps somewhat, if not then meh. I threw my two cents in here.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
while it is true that venomancers would loose on giving it special abilities; i still think the principle of being able to attack from it would be sound. like i said i would gladly forgo any abilities to it if just to have the ability to chase down some of the running monsters or to be able to turn and attack the territorial ones who like to sneak in on you while you're messaging or grabbing herbs and the like.
Its cost me a fair share of exp loss on death while herb hunting and periodically forgetting that i'm on my fox not my flyer. and think to myself "silly me for thinking i can turn and attack wait a moment while i hit 2 potion and wait for my mount to dismiss while you mobs get in a good deal of free damage."
i don't pretend to know anything about the game and its inner workings i'm speaking purely from a "wait what this doesn't seem to make sense" stand point. it would seem to make sense if the attack abilities were the same no matter what you might be riding; only difference would be overall ground speed.
i appreciate the explanation on the damage reduction that will be of great use to me.0 -
Check out the PWI Wiki. It's got loads of info on gameplay and stuff. About not attacking from mounts.. yeah it sucks. I remember we had a huge poll a year or so ago, but nothing ever comes of it.
It seems the Dev's can add new content, but are virtually unable to make any changes to the original game stuff. (i.e. how PW was when PWE bought it from Archosaur group and fired their devs) I don't have much hope in them changing it, adjusting any of the original classes, or fixing any of the many bugs that have plagued this game since it was in beta."No matter how subtle the wizard, a knife between the shoulder blades will seriously cramp his style." - Steven Brust, Yendi
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Yeah, I'm that good. b:chuckle0 -
daww well good to hear people at least tried to rectify the situation. as to the poll id really like to hear from a rep from the PWI people if its a contractual thing or a money thing. Cause in the end that's what it always boils down to. money or obligation. A most unfortunate circumstance of the human condition. I will poke around the wiki some more and see if i missed too much. i glimpsed it for awhile and made the assumption i understood enough of it to play and would work out things as i went along. yeah i know i should always read the manual. shame on me for that. to be honest what i was looking for in it was classes so most of the finer points of the game i just skimmed. that was a bad idea apparently.
I do appreciate the continued support from other players.
I hope that this will at least draw enough attention from PWI Dev or Tech to explain why you can attack from flyers but not riders and why it hasnt changed. if there was enough interest for a poll it would seem to me it would be in PWI's best interest to either hold another poll or maybe provide some additional info.
However that might be against what was in the contract when they bought the game. Lawyers make the world a pain sometimes.0 -
There is one other question i would like to post about this mount; and i admit i was hasty about the rage quitting. sorry. i guess i let myself get too into it. anyway from what i read here: http://pwi-wiki.perfectworld.com/index.php/Ground#Upgrading_Mount_Speed
there is a level limit to your mount; and you can buy upgrades; but before i went to buy a speed boost i checked the pet master and the crimson doesnt show up on there. so before i spend money on it; did i miss it? is it on there or is there another way to do it? or is part of the note on the page of mounts that cant be upgraded? because this mount isnt specifically listed. If it is possible could someone post a screen shot of where it is? appreciate any help0 -
No, you cant upgrade the speed of your Crimson Fox.
On lvl 11 it got a speed of 11m/s, which is the absolute maximum for ground mounts as far as i know.
So, no, you dont missed it at the Pet manager0 -
You may be angry about the mount now but they really are good mounts.
Feed it to get its loyalty up as one poster said. You will find they have a pretty good darn land speed and this will help you farm for mats quick-quick. You also will find they move you from town to town fast - vice using teleporter ....
Also, if you ever get bank stash, you can pass it to a low level alt and they dont' have to walk (too low to fly). This helps alot.0
