Buffing others

Hey, I was wondering why psychics don't often buff others in squad based situations. I understand that Soul of Stunning, Vengeance etc cost mp when they proc. That creates some questions for me. Does this mp cost decrease as the skill levels? Does it become unsustainable at higher levels?

I ask because recently my bro's gfs alt psy has been casting SoV and SoS on my barb quite often for BH39. I notice some mp loss, but mostly I just notice that multiple mobs are easier to control. This question will probably get answered in the long run, but I still remain curious atm.

On my archer I rarely if ever noticed a psy buffing another. I think maybe once and it was in FC when the barb asked for it. I understand selfbuffs, but if the puller could better benefit from it wouldn't it make more sense to buff them instead?

I myself asked afew times, being the tank in FC often from 94-99 and got "mana cost" and "cooldown" as excuses why I was unable to receive it.

Ty in advance for responses. I've been curious of this for quite a while now lols.

The mana cost is a flat % of your Soul Force, which increases with refines. IE the higher refined the Psy's gear is (regardless of grade), the more mana it will take from you.

As SoV procs every time a mob hits the barb, bigger pulls = more mana drain. With a decently refined psy and a decently sized pull, SoV's mana drain becomes unmanagable.

SoV and SoS are also ONE CAST ONLY per ten minutes. The cooldown is 10 minutes long and the buff last that long. If the psy has already cast it, and you ask for it, there's nothing the psy can do about it.

The only time it really is effective on a tank is when its sage = no mana cost

Or when its on a solo boss that a tank is fine with maybe when a cleric has demon IH = mana regen on target

    Ty for the responses.

I'm abit interested in how much mp it takes off at endgame. We could use a r8+5 psy as an example I guess since thats relatively easy to obtain. Mana charms are still relatively cheap if a barb wanted one too. I am also curious if my archer could handle the buffs. Perhaps I'll pm a psy friend and try to test it out later (when my mana charm breaks ofc; btw my mp pool is 2.7k).

SoS/SoV on others in TW has to be pretty awesome though, seems like it would catch others by surprise. I could see SoS being annoying for pulls in PvE on a barb, but on an aoe DD that will get aggro (Archer, Wizzy, Seeker etc) then it could be nice maybe.

or when it's not sage and you are trolling someone who is attempting to tank lots of mobs.

Our barb decided to try it out in delta before I got sage. Was quite funny hearing him on vent because his mana kept running out for 10 minutes. b:chuckle

Yeah i casted it on a fail barb so he wouldnt kill the cleric just himself

And for the TW - SoS barb if your not planning to be near them. Because if your all alone you serve little purpose when dead b:chuckle

Psy is also an aoe DD but most vulnerable of all so SOS suits him much better b:chuckle
