dont forget how some people if not most are blind to see the mutiple roles of each class sure barbs are best for tanks and cleric are best for heals but they also have another role they can play that some people are just to blind to see, i vote for to get rid of all these guides or atleast unsticky themArchosaur----|

Hideori - Lost City wrote: »EVERYTHING IS ABOUT PVP. everything. you asked why do I play this game if I dislike it so much (I do), my answer is clear - only for pvp/pk. it's the only reason to play mmo. if you want pve, just play single player games, they're allways better than mmo. better in all aspects.
People are different you know. A lot of us enjoys doing PvE in a party when we play MMOs (like myself). Taking down challenging bosses or doing instances with a team of friends can be really fun. That is why pacifist and carebears plays MMOs instead of single player games!
Of course this game doesn't have any challenging bosses or funny instances that requires teamwork lol. Its just repetitive/annoying **** that can be done using a macro and several clients. Or you just pay someone else to do it for you. So i guess you're right when it comes to PWI, eventually its only about PvP/PK and doing TW once a week. Or gearing towards PvP. I guess new fashion and makeovers still keeps a few people interested.0 -
The game is what you make of it,as far as mmo's go,this is still (imo) a benchmark to compare others against, the amount of different things to do(its not all about power levelling or getting the 'best' gear,or 5.0 BS )and you have the choice weather to waste money on it or not,end of the day it's a game, for enjoyment, and if you're not enjoying it,no point playing it.
I've been playng PWI (with a few breaks)for over 2 years now,and still havent got a char to level 100(close though lol)0 -
no the game itself is not bad but the company that runs it is one of the worst mmo company I have ever seen. If this game were run by another company I probably would still be playing it now.
Once you get to lvl 100+ you'll see why people complain a lot. You can't be lvl 27 and and ask why people complain when you haven't seen everything in the game. Yes lvl 1-30 is good times but that ends quickly.
Older players who have been here since 2008 are now lvl 100+ with nothing to do since pwe has added about zero end game content. Theres just nirvana, bh, maybe frost and tw for veteran players. Most people use nirvana money or cash shop for tt parts so its no point in farming that.0 -

This
I totally agree. Current end-game stuff ends up pretty boring and/or repetitive.
I "think" the best moves from the company would be these (although not likely)
- Raise level cap to 110 (or 115)
- Re-open the closed fb109's
- Open up a new dungeon or 2. In a way I woudn't even mind if it's a copy of the whole bh59, just put some lvl 100-120 mobs in there with 6 new bosses (5 + 1 who would spawn in middle), give them some good random drops. Some high levels mobs were created but just not available in game (if u refer to pwdatabase), just use those..
I'm not protecting nor preaching the company but what I can say is that, indeed, game was cut off from it's former lvl 150 cap, P2P version, so a lot had to be taken off.. Just slowly put them back in.. Players would maybe then , temporarly, forget about bugs and glitches.
And yeah, if the talking seems familiar, i'm Sir_Puma, just logged wrong account for forums, lol0 -
Nope, its not "really that bad" IF you can realize and cope wih the fact that:
-The game is free if you intend to play it non competitively
-You cant farm the true endgame gear if the traditional sense, r9 is exclusively available in the cash shop (You can farm the coins to spend on gold but thats not "Traditional")
-PWE doesnt care about balance and never really have
-Sins are broken in both PvE and PvP
-The game as it is will stay how it is, minus maybe a few new things in the future
-The differentiation of cash spending players to non CS players is HUGE.
-Gold will be mainly unaccessable to you untill you hit 100 (unless you spend) due to the sky high price
-You probably wont be able to TW as a player starting out in this day and age without spending money or spending tons of time
if you can suck all that up and take the game for what it is then you are golden. Most disgruntled players you see are from a different age of PWI, an age where there wasnt a gigantic advantage to be had from spending money. PWI didnt directly sell power then. PWI gave real updates then. Gold wasnt so high that new players had no chance of working for it. Sins werent around to make PvE look like a joke. ETC ETC ETCrank 9 - 19% farmed0 -
yes. pwi really is that bad. and not just the bugs/glitches, the pay to win aspect, or the management. i mean the game itself is so simplistic you could conceivably be level 90 or higher before seeing anything that requires more than just tab target-mash buttons. it's like a "my first mmo" for 5-10 year olds. b:chuckle0

You sir, have stolen my heart. You are completely 100% correct.
Is the game worth playing? It's up to the player. For me, I play because I have the ability to farm decent coin for gear, etc. I have friends, a solid TW faction, and know the ins and outs of the game. For a new player, it's gonna be shocking hitting end-game. Gold is over 1m on all servers. Back in the day, it was 85-95k. Nowadays, you can reach an end-game level in less than a week, skipping all of the content. The game is bug-ridden and lacks in-game and out support. No real "new" content has ever been produced. Most of everything is old instances and junk in the client that was dated back from the P2P version of the game. They polished it up, did some translations, and threw it in our version of the game.
The game is what it is. It's run by a company that doesn't care (PWE), and we get our patches from another company that doesn't care (PW-CN/Wanmei). It's still possible to find enjoyment, but reaching end-game the way it is... Sucks. Level 101 in 5 days, and all gear can be CS'd. No work needed, just a mastercard/visa. Even if you don't CS, and decide to take your time... When you reach end-game, after all the hard work and dedication... There is nothing to look forward too. You can't even compete in events, because they are mainly based on PvP, 5aps, or R9. PvE instances are a joke. Is there even an instance in the game that isn't currently soloable?0 -
Curatio - Harshlands wrote: »Hi,
I'm a new to perfect world. For the last couple of days I've enjoyed browsing the forums whilst at work to learn more, become a better player and generally become involved with the community.
It seems to me that there is a lot of anger on these forums about the state of the game, whether it be gripes about "Cash Shop", lack of fixes/updates, game abandonment and so forth. This is quite disheartening to hear, so I thought I'd take the time to create a thread about the good points of the game from my perspective. Hopefully it will help to lighten the mood a little...
So, i joined a little over little over a week ago, levelled a mystic up to 27 and have just got my cleric up to lvl 14. So far my experiences of the games have been very positive.
Much of my time online is spent admiring the landscapes, other people, skills and generally taking in the atmosphere. People have been friendly and assisted me with questions and quests and the sound track is so peaceful. (Pangu, is a great place to unwind after work ^_^)
I've played many MMORPG's large to small, and always enjoy PWI the most, perhaps its because I don't intend on reaching level 105. I'm happy just plodding along and enjoying what's available. Rather that worring about "5aps" and "R9", my train of thought is more like, "I realy love my wings" or "Lets have a firework party tonight!" etc.
I can't believe that the game is "Dead" as I've often been lead to think from reading the forums. Wasn't "Genesis" only released in March? I would have thought that would take a fair bit of effort and perhaps now that its out, they are working on improving in the game in general? I know that PWE recently purchased Cryptic Studios from Atari, which will hopefully bring new resources to the table...
It's easier to enjoy the game if you just take it as it is, enjoy the journey and friends that you make and most of all have fun.
What are your thoughts? Do you have any praise to give for the game or do you think that I'm simply a naive new player who will learn the "terrible truth" some day!?
Thanks for taking the time to read and i hope it made you feel a little better about PWI, and if not then lighten up!
b:pleased
i started pw few years ago. my 1st main (my 1sy char was kinda a test) was a wiz. took me several months to reach 100, but i enjoyed my time. doing quests with squad (6 ppl i met and we were all in FL then) it was fun (im sad they quited so early QQ) doing Fbs for reputation and exp... could list more stuff but would be long lol
thing is, i realized i wanted more than that (not saying it wasnt good, but wanted try something diferent) and joined a TW faction, started try farm for better gears, but then realized i would need a 5 aps char to farm more. totaly stoped my wiz for bm, time to gear him to farm faster etc. now i play a psychic. and its more for pvp.
what i mainly mean with that is, the way u feel is awesome, i felt it, and i think could still be cool now (but i guess pve server better for u), but u might want something diferent later, and will realize too u will have to farm to get better gears to do more stuff
and thing is, u will have hard time to find ppl who feel like u, even more on "old" servers where maybe 90% of players below 100 are alts of lvl 100+ppl who want to reach 100 as fast as possible.
i would maybe suggest new players (who dont wanna cash lot of $ like u) to maybe start on one of those new european servers, even more since ur european. cause u could probably find more ppl who would feel like u there (im french, and i know a lot of ppl on french server are new, so they might feel like u) and they would actually farm TTs etc.
but if u play for ur friends on this pvp server, u should maybe stay, its actually a hard choice
hope this helped u a bit in a way0 -

Thanks for the top tip on merchanting Pyrostormz, I had not thought about that possibility but would certainly like to try my hand at being a shopkeeper and starting a "Business" ^_^ (I enjoyed merchanting on a certain Java based game, beginning with R in the past)
I might try PvE, as some of you have recommended. (I'm from UK and Lothranis is only has 50ping for me compared to 120ping of Harshlands) Not that I'm not competitive, but it seems that all of these "problems" with the game you've all mentioned seem to be centred around endgame PvP.
Dude you should totally come to the french server . Also I like your additude, I hope that you still keep this kind of additude later on when you reach near the higher lvls. b:victory[SIGPIC]http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq270/ZeroAngel08/Shinsein.jpg[/SIGPIC]

do not go to pve server. u gona be pissed with all the fail pvpers
simple example, on pvp server if ppl go to cube they they catualy doing cube, why would any1 risk attacking someone in room 48. 2 rooms from finishing? ppl are usually helpful buffing each other and cooperate, even if u on kos list rarely someone will be killing u, as opposite on pve servers you will be having bored kids camping certain rooms to get easy kill.
another example, if someone pissing u off or stealing your mobs, what u can do on pve server? on pvp you can always kill him and if hes rly annoying make your gilieds camp him.
in other than well known pvp spots you not gona be pked much, i lvled my sin (red from lvl30) without much of a problems on lost city. its not rly that bad as pve server players tend to think.
not to mention all the pvp drama is fun and if you feel like pk u can. and its not true u need r9 to pvp, most of the ppl still dont have it0 -

Curatio, you sound like so many of us did when we first started this game. You appear to be in love with the old school style MMO, where you play with friends for fun doing the instances in squads.
At the levels you are currently at, even old school play provides noticeable leveling progress every day. Wait until you get to around level 60, the old school methods start to get painfully slow. After lvl 60 you can grind, run instances and run quests for days between dings.
Cadeal hit the nail on the head, we mostly have been where Curatio is now.
b:dirty We loved what this game starts out as and seems to promise to be through to the end, however once you get past the mostly solo 30 or so levels and you start needing squads on a regular basis to advance (Squads are needed for FBs, BH, and Cultivation Bosses), you run into the downside of all this power leveling and power selling, which that old school squading in the old school venues is dead because 90% of the players at those levels are off in FC paying for heads (and levels).
Sure, the bounty hunter will hand out up to 3 BH runs a day, but good luck finding a full squad that includes a healer and tank. You will be lucky to land a single BH run every two or three days due to the fact that most players are simply skipping that stage of game play through FC heads.
They types of persons that are attracted to the power leveling style game often come back at those of us that question this game style with 'shut up and get out' type replies. Maybe that is how they deal with the problems life throws in front of them, but we prefer to speak our minds when we see something we disagree with.
Although it happens less frequently we still get into squads where we meet others like ourselves, Perfect Worlders who like the old school style and are glad to have the cash shoppers footing the bill while we enjoy old school style game play.
Come back at level 80 and let us know how you feel then (if your still around.)Just some guy0
