That's one insane tome.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Dysk is my tasty chimichanga.0 -
First thing I did when I saw the +12 rank8 ****, was make sure if it's not a necro (from before they had rank9)
Anyway that'd be a nice waste of money, +12ing inferior gear
PS: PWI doesn't have +20 vit stones. Only +10 vit9 out of 10 voices in my head say I'm not crazy... the 10th is singing the music of tetris0 -
And citrine gems would better benefit the wizzie for hp.0
-
Try putting R9 +12 on that, then see some Insaneeeeeee stats. That build doesn't even have attk levels (well, 2, but meh) and no Def levels..... wait..... did i just get trolololololed?0

he farted into the calculater and posted it on the forums0

they really aren't lol.
You get a little more phys def with vit stones but you lose lots of hp. You get more hp with cit gems vs vit stones as a wizard.
Edit:
Everything on that build (except weapon) sharded with Cit gems gives you:
13359 HP
10589 phys def(sage), which is 73% reduction when buffed with sage Stone Barrier, 75% with demon
Full Buffed: 17,812 HP, 18821 phys def(82%) with demon barrier, 17449(81%) with sage
With Primeval stones it's:
12981 HP
11572 phys def(sage), 74% reduction with sage stone barrier, 76% with demon
Full buffed: 17,308 HP, 19804 phys def(83%) with demon barrier, 18432(82%) with sage
Conclusion, your sacrificing 500 HP, (and a sht load more coins for primevals instead of gems) for only 1% more reduction ('only' physical reduction mind you, vit stones don't help u with magic attacks) when fully buffed.
If he chose better gear the diminishing returns that phys def gives you would be even less, while the HP difference would be even greater. I wouldn't be surprised if that 1% difference was reduced to 0.0 -
yup, insane!
no one in his/her right mind would refine rings for anything else than lulz, That necklace is ****, the belt is good but there are sooo much better options, sleeves are ****, hat is **** (when u want +12 on gear, it's fine if you're dirt poor)...should I go on?meh, not worth it.____________

gee, how many mages do you know who spend all their time in TW sitting around with 18k pdef? i suppose if you're using this gear and you never get purged (so the resistances from those vit stones would matter considerably more), then yeah, that extra 500 hp is the way to go.
i'll rephrase, citrines are marginally better when you have unrealistic gear so that your defense is essentially gear-maxed. 500 hp less than one attack, by the way.
also please be aware that PWI's display truncates the resistance values that are actually used by the game; you may well be comparing 81.00% sage to 82.99% sage, etc.0 -

it all depends I guess, too many factors, but with the price difference as large as it is I'd go with cit gems regardless. Maybe it would be beneficial for other classes besides clerics and wizards since everyone else (AFAIK, I haven't looked up the Vit values on other classes since before tideborn expansion) gets more hp per vit point.
edit: and yea I thought of the % differences, when I was switching out vit stones -> cit gems the resistance dropped 1% after resharding 14 sockets i think0 -

I actually think vit stones would be more valuable than citrines even in the said situation. A less than 3% increase in hp in exchange for a ~5% reduction in physical damage is a pretty good deal. Not to mention you also get a pretty good chunk more mdef as well (too lazy to do the math). I was also under the impression that pwi truncates the % reduction in the calculations as well as the display. Although the added price for vit stones might be reason enough not to shard vit stones.. I do think vit stones are better than citrines if you ignore the price.Youtube Channel: youtube.com/user/D2VeT/videos?flow=grid&view=0

The point in that post is called humor.
If you're skeptical as to what humor may be, ask, and I'll explain.0
