Seeker:
Drains 435 Mana every 1.5 seconds. Deals constant Physical damage
to targets within a 12 meter radius. The damage is equal
to base damage plus 100% of weapon damage plus 8300.
Spell will channel until you either run out of Chi or cancel
the spell.

Demon version : Each hit has a 15% chance to Stun target for 1 second.
Sage version : Cast range increased by 2 meters.


Costs 2 Sparks

Archer:
Consuming 655 Mana every 3 seconds, release countless arrows
into the sky delivering devastating damage to the target and enemies within
a 12.0 meter radius of the target, inflicting base physical damage
plus 200% of weapon damage plus 6639.0. Skill will not
stop until you click cancel button or press ESC.

Requires 3 arrows, bolts or units of shot per iteration.
Requires two Sparks

Demon version reduces the interval between attacks by 0.5 seconds.
Sage version reduces damage taken during casting by 33%.

Bows at same levels as swords do roughly 2x more damage, that combined with the fact Barrage uses 200% weapon damage makes it a clear winner for damage end game, however with close range reduction damage of half, it probably equals about the same damage as seekers vortex, Also good to note archers have much higher critical hit rate so the damage is probably higher same weapons rings, refine rates.
Demon barrage is .3 faster than votex sage or demon.

Marver - Harshlands

In DPH Barrage may indeed be better (when hitting from distance ofc) but there is not a chance it's better than Vortex when it comes to AoE DPS. Vortex just drops everything around dead in no time.

The answer to your question will be:

Someone else.

Always.

Except for one person.

And that person will be the person that has sunk the most into the game.

So... do you play to be that one? Or do you have other reasons for playing?

(Personally, I am in the latter category: I mostly play to relax. So I like to call myself a fail archer. And, people that do not know me usually agree with me on this issue!)

Seriously though, this game does offer some things for people that find fun outside of the power game. I am not sure it offers enough, but I have not found a better alternative.

vortex easy man i have no sage mastery no blessing but sage vortex will still hit over 120k per 3 seconds enough said

Completely forgot about God of Frenzy before and turns out it makes Vortex hit harder than Barrage even in DPH, not a big chance of getting that combination so I'd still call Barrage for best DPH AoE. I also have to say I did all this a little bit in favor of Archer because I counted all God of Frenzy Hits as simple Criticals instead of taking some stacked hits. Not a big diffirence anyway I guess.

Attack Level ignored since it's percentage then it wouldn't make any diffirence, also everything with lvl10 masteries because pwcalc doesn't support lvl 11 for Seeker however extra 1% crit from Archer's Demon Mastery is included.

That's a pretty good analysis. Vortex basically has an APS of 0.66 while demon barrage is 0.4 (as long as you believe the vortex skill description). Are you sure though that GoF can proc during vortex? There are quite a few skills on both sides that never trigger weapon procs.

Really the only time where you'd really want an R9 vortex over an R9 demon barrage is with dragoon glitching. R9 demon barrage is plenty enough dps to get through a full delta and being able to cast from 32 meters away is important for TW.

my seeker can zerk in vortex so would assume GoF works.

despite what the skill description says, I remember vortex seemed to deal dmg incredibly quickly. Gave up on seeker on like the 3rd day so maybe i dont remember well. or maybe when I am barraging in TW it just feels slower as I count down to my impending doom.b:chuckle

Fresh_Corpse - Sanctuary

Archer base damage is almost 2x seeker base damage. With the higher crit rate and demon barrage its nto even a question atm.

With a GOF rank 9 on the seeker things might change though.

from my own experience with my 93 archer and 79 seeker, i find vortex better then barrage,
during fcs my seeker seems to pull aggro on pulls 2-3x more then on my archer, and mobs die a hell of alot faster on my seeker then archer. Also seekers can have BP so another plus on vortex
