and after reading that the old guides aren't that good anymore...

on what skills should i spend sp and coins?

i mean like what are the primary skills for a wizard that should always be maxed

The old guides are quite good. The basic is still the same. You can read them. For beginner are still good. Just for end game they are inaccurate. There is answer to your questions.

your main attacks. gush, pyro, stone rain. they're your bread and butter.

think about maxing divine pyrogram and sandstorm. i'd say get enough levels in them to do at least as much damage as pyrogram and stone rain do, or more. they make good fight openers.

stone shield, for physical mobs. put a few levels in the other two shields, but don't worry about maxing them.

once you get to where you can learn will of the phoenix, keep that maxed. by that point, if you've been leveling with quests, you'll be royally sick of kiting and very happy for the knockback.

get morning dew and frostblade. don't worry about maxing them until much later, but get them.

some folks really love distance shrink, but i've never been able to spare enough spirit to get it very high level. it's not all that great for me, but people can disagree with me about it.

that'll take you to level 50-something, and past that you'll have to ask more experienced wizards. so that could be a couple months of gameplay, or a couple days of hypering frost, depending on how you want to play it.
