noob wizard questions

Hi everyone! A new wizard arises b:laugh
I've been playing a cleric for a while and now I'm making a wizzie (I love casters and I have alot of questions (some silly ones):
1 - First the most silly (but i want to know for sure): I'm assuming that elemental magic mobs deals magic attacks of their own element (except some elites/bosses), it's that right? My barriers are still too low for me to tell T_T
2 - The adds of the skills (like the slow on gush) work with bosses? If so I was thinking that spamming SS on a boss would save the barb alot of money on repairs (I'm such a nice guy).
3 - Speaking of sandstorm, evasion/accuracy only works with ranged non-magical mobs/players? what about melee?
4 - This question comes after the freaking kun-kun b:angry there is more elemental inmune mobs around there? My genie should have a physical attack or is not worthy? I felt so stoopid chasing the damn mob, smacking it with my weap dealing a damage of 5-6 each time b:cry
5 - Ok, all the above i will figure it out sooner or later, but here is a real question (it's breaking my head):
What is the difference between: sleep, stun, freeze, silence... anything else? (these are called control skills right?)
Wizards have (without counting sage/demon mods):
Hailstorm ---> low chance of freeze
Mountain's seize ---> high chance of stun
Soporific whisper ---> guaranteed sleep
and
Force of will ---> prevents the enemy from casting??? what is that? only works with magical mobs/players?
6 - What it means "procs" (or something like that)?
I've read it a couple of times on this forums: (talking about X skill)... if it procs then... (I don't remember what's next).
english is not my main language, as you can see
that's all for now (sorry for the wall of text and my bad english)
wizzies FTW!!!

1: usually, yes. there are rare exceptions, and it's worth keeping in mind that "archer" type mobs don't deal magic damage even though they're ranged; those are physical.
2: some do, some don't. most bosses are immune to stunning effects, for instance, and i believe some (all?) bosses are immune to freeze. in general, don't absolutely count on such additional effects working on bosses. casting-interrupt effects generally DO work, but that's a somewhat different matter. sandstorm's accuracy-decreaser does tend to work, as do other similar accuracy decreasers (venos' befuddling mist, for instance), but i don't know if this makes any huge difference for your average tank really.
3: evasion and accuracy do work with melee, but in general the effects aren't very impressive. compare to how just about nobody wears evasion ornaments or capes specifically for the evasion add-on. even dex-pumped archers and 'sins don't really get enough effect out of this to be very worth it.
4: yes, there are more such mobs. once you start doing the goshiki quests, you'll come to hate the glowworms outside raging tides. (hint, squad with a friendly veno if one is nearby for that quest.) wielding a bow might help, but the problem is that without dex, you can only wield the crappiest bow and arrow combination the blacksmith will sell.
5: the game's not very consistent about these labels. in general, "stun" means "can't do anything but stand there until it wears off"; "sleep" means "can't do anything until it wears off, but will wear off at the first attack anyway"; "freeze" just means "can't move"; "silence" i think means "can't use skills"; and then from there it gets confusing, to me at least.
force of will's description doesn't seem to accurately describe the skill, to me. what it actually does is prevent the target from attacking at all until the skill wears off. this incidentally causes most mobs to run away from you, acting as a secondary knockback skill, but that's really just a happy side effect. (level 1 force of will is just barely useful as a knockback skill, if will of the phoenix is in cooldown, i've found. more levels in it will likely make it more valuable.)
6: "proccing" i've mostly sen used in talking about weapons that have a random chance of causing a magical side effect; usually (always?) these are melee weapons. like axes with frenzy or berserk, that may cause extra damage if and when that effect randomly triggers --- that's "the proc" for that weapon. by extension, "proccing" can apply to skills that have a random chance of causing a secondary side effect, like hailstorm's freeze.
there are several different theories as to what "proc" means or stands for, incidentally.

1. The attacks aren't based off the elemental type (the elemental type gives you an idea which elemental resist they are low on.. i.e. fire type mob has low water resists).. often times they'll deal that same element.. but it can really be anything.
2. Above poster is correct, you can just use a skill and watch the boss's status effects (if the slow icon shows up.. they are slowed, if it doesn't they don't get affected by it). Most bosses resist control skills (stuns/sleep etc) but are often affected by debuffs.. just depends on the boss.
3. Above poster is correct, evasion/accuracy are hardly worth mentioning
4. Basically just kun kun and the staunch worms are immune to elemental damage. I think 2 quests in the entire game you need to worry about :P
5. The naming in this game is kinda inconsistent. In general, stuns/freeze = can't move or attack (use skills).. sleep is a stun but you wake up after you get hit, paralyze/immobilize means you can't move but you can use skills/attack, and silence/seal means they just can't attack. Most mobs will run the other way while silenced (for the duration of the silence) For reference, Mountain Seize is a stun.. hailstorm/pitfall have a chance at immobilize, FoW is a seal, sporafic (can't remember how to spell) whisper is sleep.. and that's pretty much all the control skills we have. Occult ice is also a stun (says it's a freeze).. although the icon is different so it will overlap with other stuns.
6. Proc is just a term to describe a chance skill working. So if you were talking about hailstorm (33% chance to immobilize) and you used it on 3 targets (target a, b, and c for this example) and it only did damage to target a, did damage AND paralyze to target b, and again did only damage to target c.. you'd day the immobilize on hailstorm proc'd on target b. Yes being stunned means you cant use potions or skills. Although you can still use genie skills.
It's also worth mentioning that while a wizard is paralyzed, they can still use distance shrink.
ninja edit: seeing how we're on the same server, you can pm/whisper me ingame if you have any questions or need help0 -
thanks, that's good to know (mental note: get healing genie skills!)
and distance shrink... what a great skill, I use it all the time... just for fun , also it's very usefull for kite those arborides that slow you down.
since you're offering some help... can you power level me 'till 100?
hahaha just joking.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
