Any LA wizards get flamed and laughed at nowadays. you nurf your damage to have slightly higher pdef full buffed (I think someone said something crazy like 4-5%). pdef has never been a wiz's weakspot endgame, so theres no point in doing less damage for arguably WORSE survivability. mdef is just as important as pdef with r8 being a whopping 72 gold.

    pretty much this^

LA used to be more viable when most players' endgame gear was hh90, and the difference in pdef % was much greater between LA and AA -- and of course also when the average caster's weapon wasn't strong enough to 1-hit light armor builds with magic damage.

these days with "common" endgame gear LA barely provides any extra pdef over AA, meaning pretty much the only advantage is an extra 4-5% crit. not worth it if you're trying to choose the best build for pretty much any situation.

You might want to specify gear here. I'm totally against LA for wiz, but LA second cast Nirvana has +4%pdef and mdef while AA only has +2% for pdef.

That's a difference of 2%, definitely not worth doing so much less damage than an AA wizard.

Lol, that's 2% per piece and %'s go much farther for end gears. -Again; I'm not pro LA.

also realize LA can't really afford two pdef orns (mdef would be lacking).. and at end game the resists you get from high refined orns definitely trumps the base resists that each piece of armor gives. Add in that +pdef adds are very common (and +mdef is very rare).. and all the extra points in magic (or vit) that add to your resists.. and arcane comes very close if not exceeds the average resists of a LA user.

Also realize that resists in this game are largely useless. Get R9 and go defense levels.

Also realize Stone Barrier+AA > LA. I would gladly trade 2k p def for 6-7k+ more m def, but that won't happen with LA.

I'm glad someone said this. LA mage had it's place back when the server was young and there was no end-game content per-se.

    indeed it did Kannone.

also "reduce physical damage" reductions should not be taken at face value, they are stacked multiplicatively with your pdef, not additively, meaning if your pdef is already decent, you only get a fraction of that reduce physical damage.

    but yeah, go defense levels.
