Using outside programs, even basic lag reducers, can get you banned sometimes so be careful.

Had a guildie get banned for it, but thankfully they were reasonable and unbanned him fairly quickly once he explained the situation.

Try playing with the lowest settings. When you play, have every other program on your computer closed. Avoid highly dense player areas. I don't know what else there may be.

I've found when I'm having particularly laggy days it helps to shut down anything I have running in the background. Firefox, WMP - that sort of thing.

Stop calling it lag for one. It's nothing to do with latency or server performance. It's your computer or network equipment. You're looking for tweaks. Try rebooting your network equips to reset IP tables. Try your video card manufacturer's forum, mainboard forum, etc for ideas and tweaks for particular games. I've actually found in some situations that lower resolution will reduce framerate (pair it to the in-game texture details setting).

Are we talking about lag, which is a delay in the communications between you and the server..

Or are we talking about a low FPS, (framerate) oh your computer.

two totally different and unrelated things here.

For the latter, GameBooster and adjusting settings works well for me on lower systems.

If your problem is graphical lag due to your computer being older and/or weak in the graphics field, this is a great solution. I even think a GM has suggested a player use GameBooster before, mostly because it's only based on the player's computer to close down background programs which may affect your computer's performance.
