Failed to equip this item to genie

It seems that I forgot how to replace my genie's gear b:surrender, I used to think that by drag and dropping new gear over the old one it would destroy the old one and equip/bind the new one but now whenever I try I get this" failed to equip this item to genie", I remember I did this some months/years ago but now it seems that I forgot...

I was checking the wiki and nothing, if anyone can give me some tips I would really appreciate it. b:bye

    Go to watcher of earth. Select manage genie gear then go from there.
