Should I play a cleric

This might seem like a QQ thread, and I'm sorry. I'm just having some problems with my character.

Made a cleric when PWI had open beta. Somehow, my friend told me that clerics are lousy at end game and insisted I rolled a veno. Which I liked for a while, but after that, I got bored and hell annoyed. Then I rolled a wiz got it to level 5 and got bored, a sin, got that to level 2 (what's the deal with APS, sooooo boring to stand and whack), got a psychic to level 3 and made a mystic that is now level 83.

Thing is, I still feel quite lousy. Like I don't enjoy a mystic soo much. It's hot yes, and I've been gushing at my mystic for hours on end, but it doesn't seem to be as good as a veno or as a cleric. It's like a hybrid and somehow I don't think I'll like something that's jack of all trades but master of none.

Yesterday, I was talking to this cleric friend of mine and he was telling me about the amazing potential that clerics have. And I remembered how I love playing clerics, especially on PW because they can attack and debuff compared to clerics in other MMORPGs.

So I guess my question is, do you guys think I should recreate a cleric. My initial one is level 75 but I hate it cause the name is ugly. -.- Thnk if I decide to play one, I'd reroll one from scratch.

A few questions:

1) I don't think I can get R9 but if I aim for R8 with +8 refines for weapon, is it good enough? Like decent damage output?

2) Is there a possibility that I would be wanted for TW as a cleric? I do intend to consider joining some TW faction. I don't know whether it's possible, but why not give it a shot?

3) What potential is there as a cleric?

Footnote: Please don't tell me that I should play what I want because that is what matters. I know you mean well. I'm just tired of trying everything. Now I need to make a decision. I think I'll love playing my favourite character of choice but I would appreciate a push in the right direction.

how do u think those cata barbs going to heal themselves when angry wizzies psys and venos smack their butts ?? , ofc cleric are wanted in TW , for both squad support and dealing some dmg right and there.

3) What potential is there as a cleric? Imo a lot. my cleric (even if he is a bit low on lvl , gets squads for BHs or TT all the time , every1 asks for clerics in World Chat for things like FF and high lvl dungeons , and contrary to most rumors i do see aps nirvana squads asking for clerics.

I think part of your issue is pwi pve is kind of a melee-centric game and you prefer to play casters. I personally prefer melee over casting (you complain about standing and whacking, I complain about kiting or killing things before they even get close to you.) Of all the casters, cleric is my favorite because of the reasons you listed. I'm important to the squad as a healer. The more DD my squad has and the less they need a healer the more important my seals become.

Endgame clerics are pretty awesome for a few reasons. Your pdef will start catching up making you no longer so squishy, combine that with infinite heals and things like plume shell, WoP, Guardian Light and you are pretty hard to take down.

Clerics are the best control class in the game with a good variety of sleeps, seals, and shields. Seal of the God makes me shudder.

Endgame cleric dmg is... decent. Its nothing like a wizard or a psys but it still packs a punch. Also, we have physical and magical attacks to tailor to our opponents weakness.

Clerics are almost always wanted in farming squads. TT, Nirvana, Delta... and are easy enough to level in FCC. Other casters aren't wanted as much. The also are not as gear reliant as other classes. Psys and wizards are so attack based they need well refined weapons, but when a wizard has to stand their and tank in DB they better have decent phys defense too. Clerics are rarely tanking and just need enough gear to survive and they'll find runs.

Rank 9 gear is great for clerics, but the weapon is optional. Rank 8 would be fine. The reason is attack levels and GoF don't impact our heals so the weapon is only really useful for pvp.

Clerics are always needed in TWs. Rezs, bbs, zhen points at towers... They keep the catas alive (and sometimes the DDs...) but a good cleric in TW can be one of the biggest pain in the asses to fight against. They silent seal barb and bms before they can make it in to cluster fks and aoe stun, or arma. Then they can either pick them off, or let wizzies and archers do it.

I would say if you have to ask this question the class isn't for you try Wiz.

Normally I favour magic and ranged classes but this game has kind of forced melee upon me, kind of like what was mentioned two posts above.

OTOH, given the questions you, OP, ask about being "wanted", these are dumb questions, because people want good players, regardless of the class. The general populace's "demands" on the other hand, change with the tide. Who knows what classes will be most in demand come next year. That's why you find a class you enjoy and play it (there is no "what others want most" class), instead of worrying about what other people want, which will certainly lead to being a perpetual malcontent when you realize the benefits of playing other classes like your musing about venos and clerics, and what the "wanted class" du jour might be. Sorry for not "pushing" you into a class, but given your rationale, I don't think I should.
