I'm in game right now messing with settings, and I have CCC setup to show the crossfire logo when it's on. I turned V-Sync on in the games options and THE ICON CAME ON.
I'm using ATI Tray Tools with OSD flash on so I can hit Insert to view gpu temps and loads, BOTH GPU'S WERE HITTING 50-75% LOAD OH MAH GAWD

Currently seeing how crossfire actually works in game but i'm getting load on BOTH GPU'S RIGHT NOW

As I was told even the best computer would lag on crowed areas due to the client's fault :o

yeah, it still does lag, but the frame rates are more consistant since the load is being split evenly between the two cards. Instead of my single card hitting 80-100% I've got both cards hitting anywhere from 40-80%
Crowded area's still suck but out in the open it's a much better experience than before. It's weird that after all these years of playing, the one option I detested most (v-sync) actually got the game to start loading up that 2nd card. Even if it isn't very efficient at it, it did create quite a good bit of overhead now.

the only way to benefit is really cranking up the AA setting. currently running 8x edge detect with way more consistent frames in the open

the other bonus is a much lower heat output now.
